So wait, because I don't like the fact she's a legacy character written by a white male who has a history of writing aweful characters and aweful stories, particularly black ones, we're just simplify cacs?? @Booksnrain @RookieToVet :what: :mjlol:

I should just praise the white man for offering us po black folks a black girl with a sterotypical name ( you can tell Bendis don't know that many black people) and has a background and power set based on a already established character. :francis:

Ps: I think she could be the love interest for Miles MorAles (another Bendis character who is just aweful).

Marvel has been doing more of this lately with the diversity thing. I rather they create new heroes/identities and give them their own fanbase and legacy than try to change their flagship heroes. I wonder if it's (lack of) creativity or financial concerns.

It's hard to get people to latch on to "NEW" characters its a reason legacy characters are a thing in the first place.

Nope but I don't see the issue with including ethnicities in different fictional depictions. Some characters are going to be good and some will be bad but representation is important and I think it's brave to do so.

Furthermore, if we as a community don't like depictions of us by non-blks which there is nothing wrong with, we should be crafting more of our own stories.

But personally I don't see anything wrong with this much like I cape for a blk Bond. Fiction is just that: fiction. And thus it should be open enough to include multiple imaginings of characters.

You bugging like shyt. Bendis sucks like hell on team books but he is a great writer or solo heroes. his run on Ultimate Comics Spider-man was pretty damn dope. and btw his love interest should be Ms.Marvel if we gonna just be shipping like that.

Ironman is a weird one.

How does he prevent concussions?

He's always falling and a helmet of iron can't protect your brain from those impacts. It's impossible.

when he was writing for ultimate pete he was willing to take chances with the character, and they mostly paid off. when miles was up to bat he made him the safest character in marvel, not making any waves with him. his last arc in ultimates was a way to something memorable, and it ended with a whimper. i dont care for bendis, but i really dont like him with minority characters

I really only think he does it for his black daughters.

when a character named after a writers dead son is more engaging than what should be a slam dunk, youre fukking up. i get making characters for his kids to look up to, but they need character in order to do so. just being black isnt enough, and people give miles a pass on simply that

I just don't like legacy characters period. And in the big two (Marvel and DC) most of their black characters are legacy characters, Marvel more so. And I don't like Riri because she is a blatant ripoff of Natasha Irons. A super-intelligent, tehno-savy black female teen with her own powersuit, nah that's been done before: She is not original at all.

James Bond is a intellectual property written and owned by whites, so they could put whoever they want as his actor. If they don't want to USE a black man as Bond, then they have every right to do so. Who are we to complain about that? Just the same as the Freeman brothers shouldn't be played by white boys. If Elba or Cuba want to play a black spy, then they should create and produce their own franchise. Black people look pathetic complaining to white studios begging for us to be put in THEIR movies and intellectual properties. This goes not only for Bond but for other established characters. IF black hollywood could pool their resources together then we could see more positive black characters and positive black relationships on screen instead of begging and pleading for the white man to let us play his characters. But we don't think like that because we think the white man's ice is colder, and a black Bond is better then a black owned and black created international spy.

All in all, fukk a black Bond, fukk a legacy character, fukk Riri, fukk Miles, fukk Bendis, and fukk Marvel for not being orginal. :pacspit:[/QUOTE]

First of all, if Miles' father is a black American, and is married to his Hispanic mother, how in the world does he have MORALES as his last name? :mjlol:

I mean shouldn't his father be latino, or a black latino?

This is part of the reason why Bendis sucks ass. He cannot create a good black character, or have good character development for the best of him. I mean come on, RIRI?? :mjlol:

Where was this 'fictional character' talk when TheColi was outraged at Ghostbusters cast being replaced by women? :jbhmm:
