When I read that Del Toro was a fan of The War of the Gargantuas and referred to that and similar films as kaiju films instead of monster movies, I knew at that point Pacific Rim when be a midnight showing for me.

Godzilla dropping the following year too
I would like to see a revival of kaiju films or at least blu-ray releases of the classics

Reminds me of ultra man/jet jaguar

The fact that the monsters are called "kaiju" is amazing, probably see this film twice for the Godzilla trailer alone

Yup. They should've focused on making a continuous story like the Heisei series, used some of the monsters that only briefly appeared in Final Wars, and made fewer films so that they could've used that money on making better effects like the Heisei Gamera series.
