Here's another U.S. mech. In the movie the mechs are called "Jaegers":

The two U.S. ones are called Striker Eureka and Gipsy Danger, the Russian one is called Cherno Alpha and the Japanese one is called Coyote Tango.

monster movie + del toro + charlie day + idris elba + charlie hunnam = 1st day viewing...

and word to this...too bad Prometheus supposedly ruined that by being too similar to his vision for ATMOM.
Guillermo Del Toro didn't make it because the studio wanted it to be PG-13 and Del Toro de lawd Jesus Cristos wanted it to be R.

 @ depriving us of an R rated At the mountain of madness del toro flick

When "Prometheus" dropped he said it further ruined the chances of "ATMOM" ever seeing the light of day because the plots are too similar.

Aside from both being about aliens creating mankind, the vibes aren't really the same. He could've just made it known "Prometheus" bit off of "ATMOM".

Word. The theme of Aliens influencing man kind is a common theme in sci-fi. shyt has been done loads of time. It doesn't matter, it's two different directors and two completely different source material with different writers and a different vision. I've been really upset about how this is never going to be made :to:

I still have no idea how it didn't get green lit. Yeah he wanted something like $200 mill for an R rated sci-fi horror movie with a depressing ending, but James Cameron had his back and Del Toro developed the film for 3 months with his own money. If the studio was shook about the average person not knowing who Lovecraft is, they could've put this blurb before the trailer:

Stephen King - "H.P. Lovecraft is the greatest horror writer of the 20th century"

The Man Who Can Scare Stephen King | American History Lives at American Heritage

Any casual horror fan in the audience would be like :ohhh:

That's like Jordan saying you're the GOAT basketball player. Then if they dropped a creepy ass trailer....it would've been a fukking wrap.

shyt is :to: to think about.

THe studio didn't release it because they felt like the general public doesn't know what ATMOM is, and felt like people didn't generally really know who lovercraft was. Even though Del Torro de Jesus was funding a lot of it himself, that was just the movie, and not the marketing...and generally the largest cost to a movie is the marketing ( I've seen what has been budgeted for marketing of some mid tier movies and you would not believe the numbers if I told you). The studio felt that it was no way they would make money after marketing cost are factored in, as well as not really knowing what season to release the movie in ( is it an oscar film coming out in november? is it a horror film coming out around october? it sure as hell is not a summer blockbuster? when to release movies is very important and depends on what type of movies)

Shame to because Del Torro is an alltime great...I don't even like giant monster movies but I will be their for this one...:myman:
