'Bad troll gimmick' is your subjective interpretation. A minority conservative gimmick could boost ratings if done right in this hot political climate...in my opinion. I just think the product is boring. Not even bad, just bland.And you think a bad troll gimmick is the way to do it?

You can't really compare the two.
The Iron Sheik was basically an us (America) against them (an enemy of the US) gimmick that has a very long history in pro wrestling from evil Russians to evil Japanese to evil South Africans. That is easy to do and requires far less creative talent to pull off.
This black Trump supporter gimmick is playing on divisiveness within the country (in the areas of race no less) and as a result needs to be handled with a more deft and nuanced touch than the WWE has ever shown themselves to have when dealing with anything even semi-controversial.

WWE probably doesn't have the know-how to do anything meaningful with this character and yes you're right they are taking a big gamble, but is there really anything to be offended by? We can have wrestlers portray themselves as unicorn horn wearing fakkits but not trump supporters? why not?
it will be very interesting to see how audiences react to him though. even if he's portrayed as the doofy heel I'm sure in some of the redneck states he might get cheered. but hey controversy is better than what we have now so...

the issue for me is that they wont book a black man as strong and intelligent but they're quick to toss him one of these gimmicks...whether its realistic or not. i get that its a tv show but it doesnt reflect anything that i see in my real life. CACtrick was gonna get heat regardless of his gimmick because he comes off as a pompous a$$hole....
