City of Bones is dope. I read all 5 books and the prequels.

Divergent is a ripoff of Hunger Games in the way that Twilight is a ripoff of True Blood, Buffy, Vampire Diaries or any Anne Rice novel.

Do you realize how much money Twilight, Hunger Games and Harry Potter made? Summit Entertainment is good for the next 10 years off of Twilight. Lionsgate almost made a billion dollars of Catching Fire. Harry Potter goes without saying. All these other studios gonna keep on buying the rights to these YA books hoping they can get the next one.
Divergent isn't really like the Hunger Games. Hunger Games is a ripoff of Lord of the Flies. Other than the dystopia setting they have little in common.

That's what I meant. Saying Divergent is a ripoff of the Hunger Games because its a dystopian book is like saying Twilight is a ripoff of Vampire Diaries because its about vampires.

mortal instruments? i am four? the host? beautiful creatures :heh: I think all these flops showed there can only be one franchise at a time.Creating a genre for the most fickle consumers known to man is a dicey game I genuinely hope divergent fails just so these greedy fat cats get the message..If I was a teen i would be insulted at the arrogance of these execs thinking they've got the formula down to a science

Comic book movies show that it can work. much of the problem is they get cheap on these teen flicks and skimp on the budgets. the Mortal Instruments as a series shyts all over Twilight. it should have done as good as or better than Twilight did. i saw the trailers and it doesn't look that hot. i'm still gonna watch but i doubt it gets a sequel. i saw the movie and read the book of I Am Number 4 and i wasn't impressed with either.

An update:

Red Director Schwentke Set to Helm Divergent Sequel Insurgent
Helmer also directed R.I.P.D.

by Anthony Couto FEBRUARY 12, 2014

The dystopian world of the Divergent Trilogy just got “extremely dangerous.” The director of Red has been chosen to helm its second film, Insurgent.

According to Variety, Robert Schwentke (Red, R.I.P.D.) will direct the sequel, which begins production on Insurgent in May.

Divergent director Neil Burger chose not to return to the franchise, making way for Schwentke. The third installment in the series, Allegiant, is scheduled for 2016, but it’s unknown as to whether or not the film will be split into two parts.

Shailene Woodley stars as a teen in a society where people are split into factions based on their specific values.

Akiva Goldsman (Batman & Robin) is writing Insurgent, which also stars Theo James, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller and Kate Winslet.

Based on the Veronica Roth book series, Insurgent is the second part of a franchise that Lionsgate hopes will mimic the successes of the Twilight and Hunger Games series.

Insurgent hits theatres March 20, 2015.

:ohhh: i bootlegged that joint breh, here i was thinking the version i got was missing parts like good dialogue, passable acting and a decent plot :whew:
the book trilogy had a decent plot. don't know how that translated to that movie. i shudder to think what they did to Vampire Academy. with some of these books they're just throwing together cheap movies hoping to hit the next big thing.

:childplease: I completely disagree. The problem is a lot those movie were mediocre at best. If the studios would make good movies out these various Supernatural/Fantasy/Sci-Fi book series, it's almost guaranteed they will turn into a blockbuster franchise.

:patrice: I actually liked "I am Number 4" & would like to see a sequel.

Have you got into "The Vampire Diaries" or #DemThrones, yet?

Mortal Instruments could be a dope franchise if they put real effort into the movies. They fukked up trying to market it like Twilight (teen romance), when its more like Harry Potter (action). Which is why they're still doing the sequel despite the first movie bombing.
