That being said, here are some of the standouts who are making moves on this hot day in Monday:

The best player on the team??

GARRETT WILSON

He isn’t as top end fast as Tyreek Hill, but he is very much that type of a deep threat. Absolutely exceptional at tracking the deep ball. Explosive out of breaks and was absolutely was fed the ball By CJ Stroud. Will be a MAJOR problem this year and some think he’ll actually get drafted over CHRIS OLAVE, who was also fantastic today…

JT TUIMOLOAU

JT is coming on in a major major way. Paying his dues, but had multiple sacks today and will be big into the rotation due to his aggressive run stuffing ability. His size and physicality on the edge has become a major problem for tackles on the team, and look for a heavy rotation among the DEs early in the season and especially versus a very physical Minnesota OL…

HASKELL GARRETT
The UNQUESTIONED leader of the defense, he really brings a special type of physicality to the middle of the defense. Plays with a ton of nasty and has accelerated his development and become a “pro” by really really really working on his footwork and getting his second step in the ground. His biggest knock his first four years was his lack of dedication, hence his lack of production. Now that is is his “money year”, that all did a 180 and if you thought he was good last year, he is light years better this year. Was a major major problem in team drills…

CJ STROUD
Had a nice first day as the starting Quarterback. His chemistry with Garrett Wilson is one that would tell me to tell you to draft Wilson in the first round of your fantasy football draft. Was very accurate on “shot” throws and CHRIS OLAVE made and amazing play on a DB that drew the proverbial “OOOhhhhhh” from the crown. QB1 will only get more comfortable and has made BIG strides since even the beginning of camp.

JEREMY RUCKERT
Some inside the program were worried about him after getting snubbed as a captain, but he might have had his best day of practice today. Had no less than 8 catches across all drills versus the defense and is getting deployed all over the field by Kevin Wilson. He and CADE STOVER are basically co-starters at this point, and both are going to play a ton as RYAN DAY is going to be very multiple with his personnel groupings this year..

SEVYN BANKS
Was a full participant in practice today and had some major battles with GARRETT WILSON. Physicality was evident. Is being coached very very hard and responding to it. Need a big year from him, and being able to check #5 is a great way to get your mind right for Saturdays. Could easily be moved around and could even “shadow” the other team’s top WR if need be. We could have 4-6 corners play Week 1 to see who can perform when the lights come on…

More to come, but the team is getting much much healthier as we near the season. Guys who were being held for precautionary reasons are going now, becuase it won’t be long till the foot hits the ball for real…

Gonna be a lot of ass whoppings this season
Any game less than double digit win I’m pissed. People question whether our defense can turn it around, we went from a terrible 2018 defense to the best defense in merica and statistically one of OSU’s best ever in 2019. Not saying we’ll make that drastic of a turnaround, but we have the flat out talent to be way better on defense, just a matter of fixing what was broken last year like we did in 2019.

Yeah defense has to fix their play from last year. Having a spring and summer camp helps tremendously though. They missed so many reps last year due to covid it really set them back. No excuses this year.

Stroud season has commenced. Black excellence continues to reign :banderas:
Then we have a 1-2 two year hick up with Ewers before Jayden Davis takes over to get it going again. :wow:

Ohio State absolutely seems to be embracing this UFO defensive concept and really focusing on getting their "Best 11" guys on the field. This is resulting in guys lining up in a lot of different and creative ways--and also having a number of guys rise up that aren't exactly household names...

Wanted to highlight five of them that were especially worthy on note...

1) Tommy Eichenberg--Tommy has just been outstanding throughout the spring/summer and fall. Has seen a lot more action of late with Cody Simon nicked up, but is absolutely going to be difficult to get off the field. Just pursues the ball relentlessly from wherever they are bringing him--and such a smart player that he always seems to be in the middle of things when a turnover is created or a big play occurs. Have loved Tommy as a player since high school---but he is bringing it to the next level now. When they run certain "Best 11" sets he is a guy that will absolutely be in the mix. Can't wait for the Minni game as he should really have the opportunity to shine.

2) Craig Young---Just personifies the "bullet" position and will be the prototype for the type of player that OSU recruits for this position in the future(I see you Sonny Styles). Having a guy like this lined up as a safety is just terrifying for opposing WR's that may be running around---as Young gets to the ball violently and is always looking for the big hit. So nice that a guy that can play in coverage like this can also be close to the line and assist in stuffing the run. I think when OSU talks about the things that they want to do to "change" their OSU defense from last year, guys like Craig are at the forefront.

3) Lathan Ransom--a player that I mentioned to you early last season as a guy to keep an eye on---and he got paid off for all his hard work with real time against Clemson and beyond. Lathan is a player that is versatile enough to cover any wide receiver on the opposing team--but is tough enough to play nickel or even stand in at linebacker in a dime lool. OSU staff is very excited about his play--and you can tell by how much they are featuring him on all their different looks that he is a key element in OSU defense for the upcoming season. Also can help in "special circumstances", but we will get into that at a future date. But Lathan can do it all.

4) Antwuan Jackson---Redshirt senior that we haven't really talked about a ton this year. But Jackson continues to make a push for playing time in the middle backing up Garrett. They are even bringing him in on some exotic "Best 11" looks because they love his motor, strength and the power with which he is playing the position right now. OSU is always looking for guys like this that "late bloom" and make some big contributions long after fans have written them off. This could be one of those cases, as Jackson has been a standout this second half of fall camp---and is getting rewarded with more and more playing time. Keep an eye out for him.

5) Javontae Jean-Baptiste---JJB may be one of the biggest surprises of the fall camp to me. When OSU is running "Best 11" he is one of the guys they are featuring---as his play has been so good that he is demanding a spot on the field. Very versatile guy that can play with his hand on the ground or from a stand up position and he has been causing havoc for a very very good OSU offense when he is on the field. Just a rare combination of incredible strength and speed that seems to have all come together this fall. I believe that we will see him early and often against Minnesota--and we will see him line up all over the field. My selection for breakout player of the year on defense. Mark it down....

Think we had 10 players not vaccinated. OSU today mandated all staff and students to be vaccinated. Hopefully covid won’t fukk with the season now.

They’ll get their shot I’m sure. Although it’s pretty dumb to have not gotten it all summer and now you’re in the middle of a season and may have a day where you’re sick from side effects (although I didn’t feel shyt from either shot myself).

"Always interesting to see how fast guys are at Ohio State---how strong guys are at Ohio State---how athletic guys are at Ohio State---and then compare that to performance on the field...

First of all it seems Cam Brown is all the way back to pre-injury form with a 4.37 40 time.....

Chris Olave is tearing it up and will impress a lot of people at the NFL combine by going 4.38....

Craig Young is going to scare a lot of guys coming across the middle with his 4.48 speed.....

Cody Simon is the total package---4.52 40---and 9'11 Standing Broad Jump---which is VERY impressive

Marvin Harrison is a super freak at 4.50 in the 40 at his size---and 18 reps at 225...

Tyreke Smith can really turn it on and clocked in at 4.72....

Kam Babb earned that captaincy with a relentless attitude in the weigh room and in conditioning.....lowest body fat on the team at 6.5%.....

Now the champion in just about every category is none other than Master Teague....

4.35 in the 40(fastest on the team)----25 reps at 225-----35 pull ups------11 foot standing broad jump......

whenever you wonder why the staff gives carries to Master---this is a part of the reason----he just works SO darn hard....

more as I get them...."
