If it was as simple as that "Evil Dead" would've flopped. Instead it made 2x it's budget in 2 days. People nowadays don't go into remakes because they're unfamiliar with the material, they go because they want to see an updated version of what they're familiar with. Likewise I'm sure people will go see "Carrie" because it goes more in-depth with her powers.
