Didn't Patrice only last like a week or so? That shyt didn't really even count lol.

Not sure - I think he was there longer - he talked about crossing paths with multiple wrestlers as well as Vince's writing process. I think he would have to have been there longer than a week to get that much insight.

It also says more about them if they hired and fired one of the leading comedy minds of his generation in a week, than it does about him. :ld:

Also Stephanie apparently had to fire him six times, because he kept on showing up to work like :manny:.

Definitely sounds like it was longer than a week.

Yall make writing sound much more harder than it needs to be. Technically what does she actually need to know about wrestling? Continuity? WWE haven't given a phuck about that for decades and when they do it's a on a pick and choose basis. Moves and Psychology? That's the in-ring performers remit. All she is there to do for the most part is write Protagonist vs Antagonist stories/outlines along with monologues.

Now the quality of the writing is a whole different subject entirely. Which let's be honest has been on the decline for a number of years in film and television as well as in day to day journalism.

Story pacing, character development, and endings are extremely tough dude. I'm not gonna lie, no way would I hire a woman to write wrestling. And if she had said comedy writer, I woulda thrown her in the bushes.

Dumbo Vince had Patrice O'Neal as a writer and didn't use any of his ideas I bet lmao.

It should be thoroughly REQUIRED that all WWE writers have notable knowledge or greater about pro wrestling and particularly, the current goings on in WWE programming.

Quality writing isn't easy. At all. And there are several stories out there where the writers have indicated that if Vince doesn't approve or like it, there's no point of it.

You need to know the product/universe you're writing for. Shyt that makes sense on say... the set of Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm or Fresh Prince or Chicago P.D., etc. doesn't automatically make sense for the pro wrestling realm.

Story pacing character development and ending in the WWE all depends on Vince and if he is in a good mood or not on that particular day. What he likes now doesn't mean he'll like it in 2 hours time let alone 2 weeks time.

I guess I have a somewhat simplistic view on it because I've worked for scriptwriters previously and done plenty of character background bios for the writers to work off from their ideas for those characters. Obviously writing is hard but if you know how things work on TV productions then it's not as hard as some people making it out to be.

Pro wrestling is the long drawn out tale of good vs bad/evil. That has been told throughout the history of time it's really not that complicated. How much TV time is really given to the actual story if you aren't including the in-ring work maybe 3-5 mins per week for your average performer. And that is subjected to change if a segment has over run or they need to make up time somewhere else.

shyt, even in TV, you have to pitch and write a spec script to get on staff.

It is, but it is clear that not everyone can do it, nor does it seem to be the focus of the WWE. It's not about good vs. evil. It's about whether or not Vince likes it that day. Otherwise, the WWE wouldn't go through writers as much as they do.
