Disney owns a shyt ton of TV channels + movies+ Hulu in addition to Disney plus.

Of course Disney + wasn't going to be a Netflix killer, and I don't think Hulu really is either. But Disney is a huge conglomerate and owns way more media than I even realized.

and all of them are fukked right now.

no theme parks
no movie theaters
no live sports for ESPN
no cruises
Hulu/Disney + ain't the wave some thought it was

Of course Disney + is a drop in the bucket compared to everything Disney has been making money off of for decades. Something that is less than a year old is not more important to a billion dollar company than what they've been making money off of for the longest. You're right, I shouldn't say regardless of the pandemic, because the pandemic has shown people what the more level-headed of us have been saying for a while: Netflix isn't going anywhere. In the midst of a pandemic, Netflix is thriving. That is the surest sign of customer loyalty and brand recognition. People always default to that which they are familiar and comfortable with.

Im talking the future of Disney..of course a brand new streaming service doesnt hold more weight than legacy business but they are banking on this being where alot of money will be generated. The IP for movies and original content is where the ideas for theme parks, new merch etc come from.

I never thought netflix was going to die bc of disney plus but i do think if disney plus was rolling it could make dent. We basically agree on where is disney vs netflix is likely to be, just disagree on how much impact disney plus is to the legacy business.

On a side note, nice to have a honest debate without cussing and acting like a puss, unlike others on the coli

I am not sure why this is shocking- Disney+ hasn't released ANY new content since it debuted- im sure they loss subscribers- meanwhile Netflix is still flooding the market with original content
lets review once Disney finally gets some of its shows off the ground
They should've had that though. They own damn near everything under the sun. What JJ Abrams blew all they budgets? I been said they should've had a Marvel movie on deck just for Disney Plus on launch or at least dropping right now.. and I don't want to hear any excuses about this fact either!!! B,b,b,b, but.. Stop It!! And now look. All the theaters are closed!! You mean to tell me they don't have nothing new to drop for the folks stuck at home due to the Rona??:gucci:The time is now! No sports, no theaters, no amusement parks, no shopping, etc. They not gonna capitalize on this??

I agree, I have said numerous times on here that Feige and the execs at Disney dropped the ball not having some content ready to go day one. They thought Star wars and marvel movies were gonna be good enough...

Anyone with a brain knew disney+ wasn’t fukking with Netflix. It’s Disney. So i already knew not to expect content that I wanted. I’m talking Mature content. The stuff I was interested in I went to the movies to see. Hell Since I been a member of plus. I only watched the Lion King (2019) & Thor

I've been having mixed feelings about Disney + ever since they went out of their way to get rid of the MJ episode on the Simpsons. Disney+ could have been their chance to bring that episode back :martin:

They won't keep that same energy with Lena Dunham though :sas1:

One of the reasons why Disney is taking such a beating (stock price decreasing = lower market cap.) Disney decided to make a pivot to experience business (i.e theme parks, disney world etc...) so with the virus and social distancing that's a wrap. Unlike Netflix, Disney (I think) is not producing much original content.

Hulu has actually had some really good and acclaimed content this year. It's Disney+ that has been lacking.

And we'll see if the shows based off MCU characters nobody gives a shyt about will help to gain subscribers
