Netflix is definitely the biggest but they haven’t been the best for years in my opinion. They just had a huge head start, but instead of capitalizing on it and changing with the times they pump and dump terrible content while cancelling quality shows repeatedly. They’re background noise status at this point.

Same, Ozark is really the only thing on there worth watching now unless you want to catch a worthless reality show or a random murder documentary. Not to mention they’re talking about cracking down on password sharing.

Absolutely, Apple TV+ has already lapped Netflix in terms of quality. Just off the top of my head there’s:
Severance
See
For All Mankind
Pachinko
Slow Horses
Ted Lasso
Mythic Quest
Physical
Servant
And Ptolemy Grey

Put some respect on Sam Jack's name

After lockdown binge watching series just sounds completely unnecessary.

Right now I’m actually getting more films to the crib using the original Netflix style where they send whole movies. It’s more expensive than NF but if it wasn’t for the Mrs I’d have cut my sub too. Not watched anything original on there since Top Boy (lol only last month but yeah)

The minute they removed Brooklyn99 from the catalogue I’d straight up cut it though. I watch multiple episodes a day never though I seen the whole thing before.

Netflix are morons for sticking with them binge models for their tv shows.

Instead of a show like ozarks being a thing for 8 weeks, it’s only watched and talked about for half a weekend.

I also think its because of the binge model they still use. Pretty much every other streaming service moved to weekly releases and netflix seems like they don’t want to pivot this late in the game. They still do it for their reality shows but it’s not really enough.

Netflix also has a problem with the way they promote their new movies or shows. They want people to just turn on the app like cable tv and find the latest and greatest stuff being put in front of them. It doesn’t really generate interest or discussion they way they just offload content the way they do. A show or movie will come out be decent and if its not in the top 10 most watched no one will even talk about it.

This just proves that being first out the gate aint always best :mjpls:

This is a Hollywood problem more than a Netflix problem. The content is just straight up bad and agenda-driven. This is going to keep happening. These execs seem to never get fired or their kids just replace them. It's sad times out here.

man No. the binge model is not the problem, that’s what made them different you want them to be just like everyone else, then why would I even want to watch. Binging a show is the only way I’m watching anything, I don’t think talking about it for 8 weeks does anything but drag it out.

The fanbase is fickle, we all was all on squid games, tiger king, arcane and some of their reality shows. Everyone watched their Hollywood blockbusters movies despite the critics being overly critical. They was just in a great run but since we back outside I’m sure tv watching is going to go back down

And yes the agendas in Hollywood, trying to over correct the me too movement is disgusting. I almost threw young justice in the trash when they forced that pronouns bullshyt on my superhero cartoon. I don’t give a fukk about relationships in my superhero shows and movies. I just want action and a decent story. That shyt is blatantly being forced into scripts and it adds nothing to the characters.

I dropped a lot of CW shows for taking the fun out of these shows and trying to push some corny Twitter narratives. There is even a rebok commercial talking about some trans swimmers bullshyt. And yet blacks are still under represented in these same shows. But when they do have more than one black person he is half black, gay, or all of the above

Your wrong about that binge model and there’s research that says so.

yea, binge model or not, there are very few, if any, shows that demand weekly viewing. it's only if you're a super fan and want to take part in weekly discussion. if netflix moved to weekly, plenty of people would just wait for a few shows to pile up to binge. that's what i did with apple+, let ted lasso and morning show finish then subscribed to apple for a month to binge. weeklies aint keeping people who don't care

People binge a show like Ozark in under a week then immediately turn about and say Netflix doesn't have anything to watch. Meanwhile if Max & Disney had Ozark they will release one episode a week and milk the show for two months and get the hype train going for more subs and publicity. Then after that release another potential hot show and do the same process all over again. Then it looks like they're coming with nonstop heat. Netflix's top shows are being devoured and gone in under a week's time in most cases. It's going to be suicide if they drop the entire new season of Stranger Things at once when it drops. That shyt was cool when they were the only streaming game in town but now it's killing them. Dropping all episodes at once is heading out the door soon

That's what HBOMax, Disney+, Prime, Hulu, etc does and nobody complains about it
