I said it in the film room, but Netflix is synonymous with video streaming services, they’re literally #1 out of them all in terms of subscriber numbers. This article is a paid piece to puff up Disney + and it’s obvious. There’s market space for both services to coexist. Long term, who knows but Netflix isn’t suddenly gonna be 404 status by the time Disney’s shyt drops at the end of the year

What would make them more money?

You paying $15 to watch it at home direct from them?

Or you paying AMC $15 of which they gotta give Disney a cut?

shyt, they might drop it on both.

Remember when CDs would try to come out the same day in physical and in streaming?...
They would lose money crazy with that model.

40 people splitting a 15$ bill to stream the new Black Panther movie would be nuts. And not to mention the crystal clear bootlegs that would come of this

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
No

Those movies budgets are nowhere close to Marvel budgets. Disney would just be wasting money giving those movies for free
eh, they could still do what the article suggested and have it exclusively on their streaming platform after the Theater run is over and before the DVDs are available

This is a tricky time we are in. Disney got the money to find out the right way.

You guys that think Netflix will be okay are INSANE

It’s obvious they’re only pumping money into it to keep it going until some other major Corp buys them out , they’re fukked no question about it

Is Netflix making money off their blockbusters like Bright and Bird Box?

The roles those kind of movies serve is to create a buzz off movies that would have probably not got people out to the cinema.

But on a streaming service it makes total sense and people will tune in and you push your other content. You undercut pirates as what cheapskate is going to pirate a Netflix movie?

Disney is going to face a hard choice does it undercut their own big cinematic movies by offering them to quickly on their service.

You'll have millions of people who don't care about spoilers or seeing movies day one who'll just wait. That's risking a lot of money.

Trying to tell them. Everyone has kodi or its equivalent now. There are two things that keeps people from pirating, that's convenience and quality. Kodi and iptv has the first but not always the second. You start putting movies on streaming services on day one and you just gave people the second.

Naw, pirating is nothing like it was 15 years ago. I use to mess with it too but it's so much more convenient just to buy hbonow/starz/showtime/whatever for a month or two. Plus the quality of the pirated streams are usually crap
Pirating has never been easier. There are pirate solutions at every difficulty level. Your average 12 year old can probably install Kodi on a Fire Stick and get busy. For the tech savvy, the possibilities are crazy.

That's probably true. I was speaking on people between my age range (30-45). An established adult probably won't mess with any of that but a kid between 11-21 years old most definitely will

For me it's a time vs effort thing the reason Inused to pirate is things would eb geolocked or not available

Companies have learnt that people will pay if they have access to what they want. I think GoT was one of the most pirated shows ever as HBO locked itself behind cable subscription so it was easier to pirate.

They made it easier to get stuff like Crave and HBO Go people had less reason to pirate.

I'm in that range. I am all about it, and I get people, some older than me, asking about them all the time. Everyone is tired of getting beat by Comcast and the like.
