Maybe I'm watching the wrong show, but from everything I've seen of Black-ish, it's done nothing to warrant the hatred that it gets here. I don't know how scenes like this are supposed to make white people feel comfortable or give you the impression that it's a different kind of black from the shows of the 90s.

Whatever poster brought up standards was right. Shows like Martin, Fresh Prince, Living Single, and The Wayans Bros. wouldn't survive today. They would be under intense scrutiny. The world we live in is too focused on finding something to dislike about everything. Could you say the 90s shows are better? Yes. But I'm not going to pretend like shows like Black-ish are c00n shyt, especially with scenes like this.

The way I see it it's the shows outward appearance that throws people off, it threw me off. Ironically thecoli is what made me give the show a chance. The show has several scenes like the one above. A show made for white people would never have a scenes like this

This show is corny, it’s literally blackish with cursing. At some point as a writer/creative, you need to show versatility and be able to tell stories beyond your life, especially when, from what blackish seems to be, your life is pretty mundane. breh is like so proud to have a light skin curly haired family, he made 4 shows for them :dead:

That's definitely it. It looks like the show makes social commentary a priority, and they handle it in comedic and dramatic ways. ABC wouldn't have pulled an episode from airing if they thought the show was incapable of offending white people. :yeshrug:

I'm entering the show late in the game, but it took me eight years to start watching Modern Family and four years to start watching The Goldbergs, so why not give this one a shot?

The writer created this because he wants to be the star. He made another cornier blackish fir himself to star in ...problem is he can't act and has no personality. Anthony Anderson is in the position he wishes he was in. The recognizable face of a popular black show in America.

Yeah, this show is terrible :hubie:

I love Black-ish and am pretty shocked a lot of dudes here still aren't on it or calling it a c00n show :dwillhuh:.

WRT BlackAF, I tried to give this a chance, hoping it would get better but it just doesn't. The plotlines of each episode just don't seem to matter and I just don't see any sense of direction. Sometimes it feels like they just put a bunch of scenes together and call it an wrap with only 2 or 3 of them actually speaking to each other.

The other problem for me about the show is the characters. None of them are likeable at all, with only the daughter shooting the documentary coming close to being likeable and that's only because she remains neutral in episodes, so it's not even like she does anything to stand out. (Side note: Iman Benson is fukking beautiful :ohlawd::whew:)

But BY FAR the worst thing about this show is Kenya. The dude is INSUFFERABLE. He spends every minute of his screen time bytching and moaning about something and is on screen 90% of the time. His character really has nothing interesting to say or any redeemable qualities from an entertainment aspect. I'm pretty sure the dude thinks he comes across as interesting and eccentric but he's just flat out annoying.

As a personal peeve, I'm not a fan of the way the dude and his kids are constantly swearing at each other. I get that they may speak like that in real life but that should have been left out of the show.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE show. Hot garbage :trash:

1/10 for me . I have nothing good to say about this.

I'll stick to Black-ish :hubie:
