Reading through this thread it appears half of you are struggling to even understand whats happening here.

:usure:Move to the different company? All the other ISPs are doing the samething.

Google fiber? As soon as Netflix starts taking up most of their bandwidth what do you think will happen?:sadcam:

Just be happy your ISP isn't charging you for it.

Whats even funnier is the majority of you likely pay for Xbox Live. :troll:

maybe im not understanding something.. netflix currently accounts for like 30% of all internet usage.. more than https... or youtube or anything... whats the issue with them paying the server owners to maintain this usage, at an acceptable speed?
Precedent my friend.

It would be virtually impossible for Netflix to take up most of Google's fiber optic network. That's the beauty of fiber. These other ISPs haven't updated their infrastructure in ages, despite making net profit every year and want to complain about not handling bandwidth? Nah fukk that.

The problem with you're two comparisons is electricity is charge per use so ppl know before they use something that they will be charged for it. Internet on the otherhand is monthly and the thought it you can use as much of the internet within that month as you want. In your same example, why isn't comcast then reimbursing those ppl who pay monthly fees and hardly use it? If they want to make internet a usage fee, then do that.

Netflix is a convenience, stop thinking the common public thinks like you because they don't. There's a small percentage of ppl that care to use torrents, and streaming sites and all that. Those are hassles that most ppl would rather not go through. Why do that when you can pay $7 a month and just have whatever you want to watch a click away?

exactly...cats think just because they are on here around like-minded people that everybody is like us...the avg net user doesnt know about torrents and finding streams...they want it quick and easy....

Imagine if the weed man started charging you extra for how you consume your bud.

Comcast = ISP (Internet Service Provider)

Netflix = Video Streaming Service

ISPs are trying to charge other companies for how they use the internet. That cost will eventually be passed over to the consumer because the money paid to the ISPs has to come from somewhere.

ISPs don't make money based on customer service or satisfaction. They make money based on "new subscribers" and the shareholders who will thus invest in a company that is "growing" due to new customers.

Thus they have no incentive to upgrade their shyt...even though America is like a decade behind in terms of Net Speed and service, and even though upgrading our network infrastructure would make the internet speeds faster by 100x.

NOW...Comcast is setting a precedent. An outside service is trying pay money for better speeds, so that Comcast does'nt throttle the bandwith that is going to people who are using NetFlix.

What kind of dumbshyt is that? Comcast isn't charging you shyt extra. You want to use a drug analogy. Netflix is essentially pumping drugs on another nikkas block and not trying to break him off. Now they can either pay or go to war. Netflix don't have the muscle.
