It would not be some overnight bullshyt victory like Iraq was. The Iranian army is extremely well funded and well armed. An Iranian invasion would likely result in an extended battle with millions dead and even more displaced. Furthermore, its highly likely that both Russia and China would covertly back an Iranian military, further lengthening the war. An Iranian invasion could easily develop into WWIII and we dont need to go there.

They said iraq wouldn't be a pushover. It wasn't for lack of trying. Frankly, the military might of the US would overwhelm anything Iran could muster, they will be sitting ducks once their air and radar defenses are eliminated.

A war with Iran would last maybe 2-3 months until the military was soundly defeated. The problem comes afterwards in the "nation-building and security phase" where the military become police officers and try to restore as much normalcy as possible.

If this was like WWII, these countries would have been steamrolled and the backs of their people broken until they had no will. So let us be glad we are all civilized now.

Because the only country really backing them internationally in anything is the US. You could make a long, long list of UN resolutions in which the only dissenters were Israel and the United States. If Israel were to nuke Iran, that would not only get them condemned for doing that, they would be condemned for lying about their nuclear capability (yes, we know they have them, but Israel still "officially denies" it). Nobody in Europe is supporting Israel like we are and they won't in the case of a war in the Middle East.

Also, there won't be a war unless they were seriously stupid, because it's one thing to bully the kettled in second class citizens in your apartheid state, and another to do that to a decently equipped state with the only country that supports you probably not going out of their way to back you up. Israel has a pretty damn good military, but it'll be protracted on the back end at the very least. At worst, it'll be more Iran-Iraq War than Desert Storm.

Israel might be more vocal in public, but the wikileaks document showed exactly who is calling for this war. The Sunnis and the Al-Saud family are scared to death of a Shi'ite take over of the holy lands and oil.

They won't say it in public because they want to give the appearance of solidarity, but it's true. Good read up on the documents.

Most definitely. I think that Israel gets singled out, and the US as well, when there are Muslims nations begging privately to see the Islamic Revolution leaders be decimated.

That way, they can blame the US and Israel for attacking Muslims, while secretly being happy they don't have to ever worry about Shi'te influence in the region or invasion of the holy lands.

It's a win-win for them.
