Nelly says his Era of rap was the toughest : “When I put out songs, I Had To go Against DMX, JAY-Z, Eminem, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Luda."

Man I'm for the culture, that was white people buying that shyt. Can you name 2 songs from either of those shyts? Knock it off.

If you have white fans they'll prop you up for another album or two because they're late to everything but once WE stop fukkin wit something they eventually realize it's not cool anymore and move on as well.

Arguing in favor of the album that contained "Flap Your Wings" as the hit single is nasty work.

There is certainly a comparison, but this is funny :pachaha:

Grillz was the #1 song in the country in ‘06, and “The culture ” was definitely fukking with it

Far as what Nelly said, there was definitely a lot of competition at the top of the charts…but it was also the commercial peak of hip hop…it’s like winning the scoring title when total scoring was at it’s highest…it was “easier” to put up huge numbers in nellys era IMO

kinda making his point... Country grammar came out in '00, he came in STRONG (II)

But with so much competition, he eventually faded away after his lil run. I wholeheartedly believe if the early 00s wasn't so stacked his run would've been longer.

this random AF but what ever happened to Fetty Wap?? Dude came in and had the charts on SMASH for like a year. That year where half his album was on the radio was crazy. He literally fell off right after that one year run though. And this was well before he got caught up in that shyt so we can't blame his fall off on that. shyt crazy

Haven’t watched in while but I think he got hit with a RICO.

A 5 year run with three hit albums isn't little though.

Forgot about Grillz, I ain't goin lie that shyt made me want one lol. But still come on b nikkas can make a one off smash hit after not being relevant anymore. What hit Tyga made before or after "Taste"? He had a run too, fell the fukk off, popped back up wit Taste and faded away again

3 year run, 2 hit albums. Y'all disingenuous af counting that sweatshirt bullshyt. In comparison to Fetty yeah I'll take a 3 year run over a 12 month run all day, but it's still little when mentioning the greats. nikkas say 50's musical run was short but tryna tell me Nelly's wasn't, tf are we doing right now :childplease:

if we use the same metric you're using on nelly, then 50's was shorter.

Just cause he lost to 'Ye don't mean Curtis was awful. His run is from when In Da Club dropped in '02 to Curtis in '07. A legit 5-6 year run, not 3 years.

No, I'm not saying Curtis was a classic album. I'm saying it was good enough to have me at least wanna hear his next project to see if he was truly washed or if he still got it. I was completely off Nelly after sweatpants :hubie:

I disagree. Nellys run ended around 20 years ago n he eating still. Fetty was selling crills after his run. They bled him out had him drop all his hot shyt in rapid succession with no plan. Could barely do shows once it ended. Nelly has a diamond album, big singles, was able to put his group out, did movies had clothing lines and still up.
I say all that to say:

Nutting inside Ashanti > going to the feds.

Suit had the single My Place, which was #2 on pop charts and the album went triple platinum. Nelly was still huge in 2004. That's a legit 5 year run

You know, I'm listening to Curtis for the first time in over 15 years and I must admit this shyt kinda ass :to: I was a G-Unit/Fiddy stan but I can't lie this shyt ain't vibing with my soul at ALL... Even the track with Mary, she the best part of the damn song smh. I concede lol fukk it you right.

Fiddy still got three albums compared to Nelly's two though. That GRODT movie soundtrack is better than most nikkas entire catalog, I still bump that shyt to this day.
