@Get These Nets and Have you heard of The Star Order of Ethiopia?
I've read the name before in books about that period of time. I know nothing about it.
Is this the hitpiece that was linked to the early NOI?
I see the location of the story and guessing that it's roughly the same time as the other stories in the post.
There was a grisly murder that law enforcement tried to pin to a member of the early NOI that made the general public afraid of them. This sounds like it might be the story. People associate the Nation of Islam with Chicago, but I believe it came together in Michigan.
Thanks for the info.I think they were apart of the "Back to Africa" movement. They wanted to go to Ethiopia though -- as they thought all Black people were Ethiopians.
They had beef with Du Bois too -- like Garvey. I am guessing it's because they were preaching Back to Africa -- and he wasn't.
I'm not sure. I'll do some research and find out. But, they have LOTS of hit pieces - White were on their ass.
Yeah, it seems like after Fard was kicked out of Detriot - they moved shop to Chicago.
All I can say is Black folks, particularly Black men were not playing back then!
Especially those who moved to the Midwest during the Great Migration.
