At that age, the only person who can change him is him. Unfortunately, that usually happens after a MAJOR fukk-up.

Take him for a drive, showing where people that did what he does ends up. Ask him what he's trying to do(career), and figure out a plan to get there. You don't even have to say go to school, you can introduce w/ a trade(construction) or doing web design(W3 schools, youtube tutorials) and let him about the opportunities for that.
