Cause nerds were kept out of stuff because they didn’t conform to the standard of their times so now some of them do it to girls.
I’m still trying to figure out what gatekeeping even means in this context. What are these people trying to protect against? Sometimes people don’t even understand how absurd their shyt sounds.

It's not revenge. People gatekeep because they don't want uninformed opinions fukking up something. A lot of it stems from deciding the direction of something. Imagine if, on this board, we gave equal weight to to the direction of this board to people who just signed up yesterday and had only two posts versus someone who has been here since the beginning and logged a few thousand posts. The people who have been here longer would feel some sort of way, understandably so.

In any case, while I doubt the true context of the data (the definitions of own and play leave too much in the air), I'm not surprised at the idea that women play games. My girl does and we both know a good number of them.

Until they piss off people and make a portion leave, or get hit with some other bullshyt. Even more, this is how we have people justifying the most absolute bullshyt companies pull. In any case, all I am saying is that the reason why people are concerned or gatekeep is not on some weird revenge shyt. That doesn't make sense. At worst, they doubt the "new" people know or understand anything and will consume anything thrown at them, even the worst garbage and will support lower standards.
It’s just bruhs today still trying to gate keep. Video games as still being the boys club. Things change and slowly more women are getting into gaming. Either through watching them or playing them. The Sims, Zelda, Animal Crossing, and story choice games have a big female fanbase. Another thing that people doesn’t bring up. Is that women generally picks up. Some of the same hobbies as their man.
