They have enough of a break period after the conference finals and before the NBA Finals to schedule a ceremony to announce the awards.

I had no idea when this thing was. To be fair if the Finals went 7 games it's only 8 days between the last game and the awards show. That seems like a fair amount.

No player has ever won the MVP and then immediately been traded that offseason, and its safe to say that isnt a realistic scenario in the future either.

As I said during the regular season, at least having it this late reduces the amount of idiots/trolls trying to get a hot take and shyt on Westbrook for winning the MVP and losing the first round.

The way they're doing the awards show it's impossible to do during the playoffs and doing it between when the reg season ends and the playoffs begin isn't feasible


What's the big deal? It's not like this is unique to the NBA, the NHL and I think MLB have similar shows. I'd prefer it was the old way but things change, it is what it is.
