nah, basketball is fastest growing sport. But there are more popular sports outside of soccer than basketball. like Cricket, Field hockey, Volleyball, Tennis.

And cats keep saying "basketball" as if it correlates with the NBA growing that way.

"MLB" has a major foothold in the countries mentioned. I"'m not sure if the "NBA" does. Their stars....yeah...the league....no.

That's where MLB is killing them too.

I think ya watch First Take to much, because thats the only show where they act as if baseball is this insignificant sport in this country. I think its mostly because they try to appeal an urban audience where baseball has actually been losing some popuplarity. Baseball is doing more than fine though. Local ratings are up, new tv contracts, and the amount of people they draw in their ballpark is tops amongst all professional sports. Baseball is defintinely in need of a transcendent star but the sport is doing more than fine.

Glad the NBA is doing so well. I think a lot of the NBA's resurgence is of course due to Lebron James but also because the Eastern Conference has been so much better the last couple years. I really don't think I wanna see a global NBA where you have countries facing one another. I prefer things the way they are now.

Maybe if ESPN/ABC actually utilized their NBA deal and provided additional coverage, revenue would be even higher. ESPN doesn't even start any NBA coverage until a couple days before the season starts. NBA coast to coast could could be done more than once a week and they could actual provide a consistent NBA 'NFL Live' version show.

I say ESPN buying rights to the NBA forcing them to changing their tenor towards their partners has more to do with it.

I think seeing Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant every Wednesday night wearing Urkels old glasses and turquoise chinos with magenta polka dot sweaters has more to do with it....

Of the 4 major American sports, it's really the only American game with a truly global appeal to it, revenues will keep climbing with more and more foreign stars.

Not only that but the way technology work, it's making these star players a brand themselves.

So much for the assumption that star players coming together will hurt the league l.

I feel you on the corniness, but its a lot bigger than that. Coli/Sohh hostility towards baseball reflects an overall trend of declining black participation in baseball. Baseball was an inner city game as much as b-ball, and certainly more than football. This madden culture got these cats brainwashed.

Its interesting to read how the culture shifted from baseball to basketball...I read alot of stories from the 40s and 50s cats like Jackie Robinson who played basketball football track and baseball and chose baseball...That really was the go to sport back in those days,the others were all minor league...

All those 40s and 50s heads like Willie Mays,Satchel Paige,Lou Brock they all chose baseball as if it were basketball in 2012..Its hard to think where the culture is presently and think only 60 years ago it was completely opposite...

I know some heads today who have grandparents that played in the negro leagues and they dont give a shyt,dont know anything about the history or culture signifigance of it and dont want to learn it cuz in there words ITS BASEBALL i DONT GIVE A FCK...

Alot of these cats that hate it,dont realize the culture signifigance it played in there family heritage 60-70 yrs ago..kinda sad...

Baseball has just a such global appeal if not more than Basketball. And Baseball is more global than basketball

Baseball doesn't have a global appeal, only the NBA has any type of real penetration into Europe.

There are Indian kids now getting into basketball, there's even a 7 footer with a shot at the league, what kind of affect do you think that would have? We all saw what Yao Ming did and his impact won't truly be felt for another 5-10 years when we start seeing kids that grew up in China watching him making a push for the league.

That is where the difference lies, there's dudes from all over the planet playing in the NBA and when you see people from your country doing it you end up with others trying to do the same.

NBA STARS are more visible than the NBA ITSELF.

MLB ITSELF is huge in other countries compared to the NBA's popularity in other countries.

This is the problem the league has created in focusing so much on its stars.

Yeah espn gives more coverage to sports its in bed with it really has nothing to do with overall popularity

espn radio hardly covered the mlb playoffs and i remember the hosts especially Cowherd sayign its because nobody cares when in reality its because epsn didnt have the mlb playoffs

The NBA got a bunch of fake ass homo nikkas like Wade, Harden, and Westbrook as the new face of the league. All the real nikkas are in China or old and washed now, Cacs are no longer scared of the "thug" image.
