NBA knew they couldn't force him to sell the team. Part of the reason they were able to force sterling to sell was he had dementia and his wife also had the right to sell.

I wanted him banned & exiled...1 year suspension is just the league saving face.1 year!? That's like Furious Styles asking a kid to rake his lawn for $5.Nothing:aicmon:
Had they raked that lawn for $5 , they would have had money for the store and not "been in and out of jail"

Not gonna lie, I'll cut Silver some slack. He didn't have the smoking gun that he did with the Sterling case.

I'm a bit surprised Sarver did not get caught saying something homophobic.

Usually if someone is racist and misogynistic, they are also homophobic.

The players should boycott, not sure how they can play for him. I am guessing the only reason NBA didn't get rid of him is due to legal stuff because this is just as bad as Sterling.
He probay didn't have the backing of the other owners, who a good portion of likely have similar shyt in their closets.

Sterling got voted out. Maybe the other owners like Sarver :yeshrug:

Q: Is it possible for Silver and the NBA to terminate Sterling's franchise ownership?

A: Yes. Under the terms of Paragraph 13 of the constitution, the owners can terminate another owner's franchise with a vote of three-fourths of the NBA Board of Governors, which is composed of all 30 owners. The power to terminate is limited to things like gambling and fraud in the application for ownership, but it also includes a provision for termination when an owner "fails to fulfill" a "contractual obligation" in "such a way as to affect the [NBA] or its members adversely." Silver and the owners could assert that Sterling's statements violated the constitution's requirements to conduct business on a "reasonable" and "ethical" level.
