, millions of cable channels and social media platforms in the modern era right now. People live in cultural/social silos. There are many niches. In the 1980s and 1990s, everyone watched the same tv channels, listened to the same radio stations and listened the same popular/revelant artists because of the ubiquitous and heavy MTV exposure.
It’s difficult to stand out and catch the attention of people. It’s impossible to keep the interest and enthusiasm of people. People have much more shorter attention spans and lack patience for anything,we have become ungrateful and demanding, we expect things to happen right here and right now.

We are spoiled, entitled, impulsive, impatient, easily bored, unable to focus and concentrate, easily distracted, jaded, confused, paranoid, and cynical. We have too much information, knowledge, and entertainment options at our disposal. Too much of a good thing becomes bad because we can’t appreciate and enjoy things in the moment present. When entertainment options were scarce, we cherished them more. We didn’t miss a minute of it, because we knew the chance may never come again. Right now we also suffer from paralysis from too much analysis. A lot of chronically online people find the virtual and fake world of social media more entertaining, intriguing and compelling than the real world.
Humans lost their their capacity/ability to be amazed and impressed by something. Normally, people should find joy and excitement in watching the nba finals but it doesn’t impress people like it should, instead people don’t see the nba finals as a special event.
