He doesn't produce with it, that's the issue. A guard who can't take jumpshots off the dribble is.... I think he made single digit otd jumpers at UCLA? Its almost unheard of.

He cannot jump/elevate with his form from UCLA. Say what you want about MKG, but at least his ugly shyt wasn't gathered from below his waste or released after a baby hop. Ball's J is too easy to defend, even though it "looks" better. He shoots like he doesn't know how to hold the ball....

I was looking forward to his NBA season at first but with LA having almost no shooters the floor is gonna shrink significantly and opposing defenses will be able to crowd and help much easier. Better, more seasoned PGs than Ball have struggled to adapt to that. He's going to have to do it while unfukking everything he's learned about shooting while also dominating the offense.

I'm not sure what the issue is. All I know is that gathering that low in a big boy league where you have to use every tool available to keep defenders off of you is a massive red flag.

I thought he'd have more help in LA.

I disagree with Lonzo not being able to take jumpers off the dribble. He didn't take them, And as the poster above me said, he did take a lot of jumpers off the dribble at the 3, he just didn't do it much on the pnr. it doesn't mean he can't make them. I guess we'll see though.

college numbers

That was 2pt field goals. Those numbers are inflated too because essentially all of them were layups. Only shots 8 mid range jumpers or so.

He was 80/194 from 3 though.

He shot 73% from 3?:francis: You know that don't even sound right.

Check your numbers please. I almost guard you put his 2pt makes against his 3pt attempts. I'm talking strictly OTD and the fact that his form starts too low, favors one side too heavily, and his elevation not being consistent - his jumpshooting #s reflect it as well.

But hey he might Devin Booker it up and have his best skill be some shyt he never once showed off in school.

I like Ball, but.... out of all the jank shooters in the league, not one had a shot come off their hip.

Trading Russell will make things more difficult for Lonzo, I hope you're ready for people calling him all kinds of names.

I say that as someone that likes his game, but he's gonna need better pieces around him, and CopFace ain't one of them
ive already acknowledged the russell trade was a setback and it will hurt lonzo. We just gonna have to hope clarkson or Ingram improved as shooters, but im not optimistic about it. I think Zo and Randle will be nice in transition and p/n/r, but ranlde gotta set better screens

thats his 2pt numbers youre right, which is actually promising. but he shot 80/194 in college (40%). he uses that step back and quick release to get the shots off the dribble, he might have adjust a bit, timing wise...but I think he got it

Ultimately the type of player Lonzo needs at PF is either a dunk machine that rolls to the rim, or a guy that can make the three. I don't see Randles skillset fitting with his long term, not unless he can turn into a 35-38% three point shooter.

I think Lonzo / Ingram have star potential though....

Luke will have to be creative. Zuboc showed potential in P/n/r, but I dont like how lopez will eat into his minutes. and Im thinking they are viewing Lance as a 6th man, I'd expect them to want to have him out there with Zo as much as possible

Lopez will be there a year so I doubt he cuts into Zubac's time too much. I think next summer Boogie is the real target for the Lakers, also if they can get him I think Richaun Holmes is the perfect type of PF to get for Lonzo + Boogie + PG13 in that he's an athlete that can hit the three and run the floor and I highly doubt the Sixers will be able to retain him.

Lonzo is going to enjoy playing with Thomas Bryant. Brook Lopez will be good for him to learn from too.

He only took 35 mid-range jumpshots in the halfcourt over the whole season

two thirds of those were assisted
