Still want to know why they chose to swim in that big ass lake :mindblown: I can understand if they had a lifeguard or two on the boat but for both of them to go in all that open water is just crazy to me. Also people on Twitter and IG especially her fans need to chill out calling out Sean in his comments. Many of them are mad because he hasn't said anything.

Swimming in a lake, if you know how to swim, isn't really dangerous. However, there can be currents, places where the lake is much deeper than others, it is a bit of mystery how exactly things became so desperate. Did the boat drift off while they were swimming, and they struggled to reach it?

Was there cramping, an injury, that made it difficult to swim? How deep is where they were? Are there rocks? There's nothing in the lake that could harm her, animal wise, as far as I know. water snakes? I am not familiar with that lake, but have been in others in that widely general area. Saw snakes. The isolation and nature makes that a possibly vulnerable situation, but nothing suggests, as of now, it was irresponsible.

Have even swam in the middle of the ocean off Mexico, no land in sight, only a yacht, even though I was scared, as a kid, of sharks, whatever.

Unless I was doing something extra risky, I would never even consider a life vest, even in the ocean.

Any time I'm in Cancun/Cabo and snorkel I go without a vest for better mobility but

1. I have the vest floating near in case I need a break

2. I always have other adults with me

I don't do it solo or with a child, that's just asking for trouble :francis:

Swimming in a lake, if you know how to swim, isn't really dangerous.

Swimming in the middle of any body of water where you can't reach stand-able water carries danger. Period. Regardless of how good of a swimmer you think you are. The danger only increases if have no vest AND you're the only adult around. Especially if you're not mentally prepared for anything to go wrong. That's where one little mistake or problem can quickly become a bigger problem.

It's easy to sit on the sidelines and talk about how you can doggy paddle or float for 12 hours until rescue comes. Completely different story when you're panicking and what was supposed to be a casual swim escalates to you drowning.

That's reasonable, but there is probably an unknown factor here, that hindered her swimming abilities. Unless, she was just dangerously inexperienced swimmer. There is probably some unknown here.

I think I understand that risk, but there is a boat right there, that's the safe spot/land. What we are looking for is the one little mistake, one problem, whatever that may have been. Swimming with a recreational boat next to you is safe. Did the lake have currents, strong enough to carry her and her son away, further and further from the boat?

Did neither intend to get into the water, and somehow fell in? Also, was she an experienced boater? Was there an issue there?

It could be that simple, she may have not been as strong of a swimmer as she thought and panicked.

This is what I'm wondering also.
