I always say military community’s are a microcosm over overall society. They all living so close to each other and constantly working around each other. The fukkery just gets concentrated. Everyone knows somebody in that situation. You’re essentially professionally living and working in the projects.

at the same time, civilians don't even know what's going on down the hall in the same type of apartment and office buildings. i think we just know what it looks like and know that these dudes almost always either have no friends or ran them all away before doing the dumbest shyt possible to ruin their lives. its a story on repeat with a few changing parts - but its always the same shyt

as for the navy? they know they need to do better and have known they need to better from the top down.

When I was a Naval Officer, I always tried to counsel my enlisted on which women to avoid. I also pointed out that it was probably not a good idea to seek any serious relationships while in the military, because our long absences were a breeding ground for betrayal and cheating.

Too many did not listen though, so I would hear quite about regularly guys returning home and all of his stuff missing or find out his wife or girlfriend was messing around with everyone on and off the base. Sad to see, but it seemed the new guys were incapable of learning from the mistakes and taking to heart the lessons of their seniors.

What is it with the Navy and open marriages? Every Duty station I was at, at least a handful of people were into that
