You know, despite the fact that it's felt like ages since they've talked about Factions 2, TLOU Part II is only a little over a year old. I really do think they're not at a stage yet where they're confident in showing off what they have. Especially since they've said it's become really ambitious. If they were able to somehow make it on the same level narratively as the first two games (crazy, but who really knows?), I'm more than willing to be patient.

They might also be doing the "Let's wait until we can announce a concrete date" approach when it comes to a proper announcement and trailer. We probably won't have to wait too long, and that'll more than likely hold people over until TLOU Part III. Who knows, they could make spin-off trilogy launching from the MP. There's a lot of cool ideas they could do.

I think developers are mostly just scared of another cyberpunk situation since it damn near ruined CDPR, it’s why they keep putting emphasis on “when it’s ready”….they show it now, they’ll be under pressure to give a date a few months from now, then it’s the constant backlash from fans when you keep pushing it back, with the inevitable shyt show when it’s been too many pushbacks and they have to release it in a shytty state

Yeah, developers/studios/publishers and companies whatever pay attention to what we’re saying way more than people think. You think microsoft and sony reversed their big decisions this year just because they realized it was bad?

I even saw Jim Ryan say something to the effect of, “maybe i should keep my big mouth closed” when he got shyt for talking about gran turismo 2 earlier this year. Naughty Dog, Santa Monica studios, Suckerpunch etc. are all constantly checking their twitter mentions and another company is checking overall metrics on everything to see what we are talking about. Thats how they do business, they know 50 million people mentioned god of war ragnarok from june-august, they know people were clamoring for footage and for a PlayStation showcase.

I say all that to say, naughty dog 100% know people are dying to see something from them, factions especially. If they haven’t shown anything by this point it 100% isn’t ready to be shown or even teased. It’s also probably hard as hell for them to keep shyt from leaking.

Cyberpunk is such an interesting situation because I just had a feeling, well before its release, that something like that was gonna happen. When a game gets hyped to the level it did, you just know it almost never reaches it. TLOU2 had that amount of hype too, and well... We all know how things turned out, despite its massive success. And it's unfortunate that CDPR had to be the cautionary tale for developers to take heed, but it's a very sobering lesson for everyone to learn.

Take Bayonetta 3 for example. I have yet to fully play a game at this point, but I want to. But look at how Bayo 3 had radio silence for YEARS, to the point where people were legitimately concerned for Platinum Studios. And then, they drop a trailer out of nowhere, and it looks great. They even gave a vague "2022" date, which shows that they're nearing the end of development. Now, should they have announced the game as early as they did back in the day? No, but in the end... They chose not to share info early on and it paid off.

Bigger example is FF7R. That game had radio silence for 3-4 years, and then had a huge promo run in spring-summer 2019. And when playing it, there's so much attention to detail and love that's been put into the game that makes you realize how much work it really took to get there. You appreciate it that much more, because you know they didn't take shortcuts.

As much as people complain about games not being released or even having much info coming out, 9 times out of 10, it's for the best. Unless a game pulls a Duke Nukem Forever, it's always been beneficial to wait until they're ready to show it. And despite people not loving TLOU2, I don't think ND has ever disappointed with the gameplay aspect. So I think they're making the right choice.

Also, ND probably have a less strict timetable than they did a couple years ago, they got a TON of shyt for crunch around the release of TLOU2, they have probably made some adjustments so that will make dev time a lil longer too
