Watched the movie again and took the ending differently than I did the first time. I took it as no matter how merciful we are to white people and police, they still see us as threats and will take us out without a second thought. Then spin a narrative to justify their inhuman behaviour.

Exactly the point he was making.

I HATED THIS shyt!!!

I love Nate Parker as an actor but the fact he fence sat with this one pissed me off. You risk all of your boys lives and freedom for that shyt?? WTF??!

He may as well hugged the cop.

1 homie had cancer. Another one was old, he said he lived his life, he don't mind going out. The others.... they were ride or die.

It wasn't good, but I'm glad this movie exists. It's a movie plot that works a lot better in theory than in practice. It did feel like they ran out of time or money or that Parker didn't really think thru writing the 2nd half of the movie.

The ending really did feel like a student film, to the point that I wish Nate had employed someone else to write it. Of course Linc was never gonna shoot the cop and of course filming it was meant to make it all go viral, but we needed something else to not make the ending feel so empty.

That’s how I felt, how did you take it the first watch?

Also damn I cant believe this is getting such harsh criticism, he attempted to create a dialogue we have every time these killings happen.

He attempted to make it as real as possible and show the world how silly these cop arguments be

I wold think he would get some praise for making such an ambitious film again.

I don’t think it was a masterpiece cause they didn’t show the police takeover but damn it didn’t suck cause it had such an important dialogue with the trial..

I looked at Parker's character as weak because he had the power of life & death in his hands and didn't use it as I'd like. We knew he wasn't coming out alive, so why not take vengeance instead of going for justice?

It irked me.

I'm 75/25

Most people think he took a tense movie/concept and punked out at the end.

Most of my 25 comes from the fact you can't make this move RIGHT NOW and end it like that.

Maybe 15 years from now.

Watched this last night with no expectations but I actually enjoyed it. There were a few cliche and somewhat corny parts. But I felt that helpness Linc was going through to where you just want to do something even if the plan wasn't that great. Got to the point pretty quickly and was a easy watch. I'd like to see what Nate Parker could do if he had a bigger budget
