The way the world is, in order to succeed, someone must fail. Besides, I don't think there is enough resources to feed, clothe and house everybody. If there is, then the standard of living in western countries is going to have to have dramatically. But no one in this country is going to be willing to give up eating as much as they want, whenever they feel like it.

I believe this to. I think Star Trek got this right. Once the Vulcans came to earth, folks stopped all their bickering and created a federation for everyone. They even dropped currency systems.
