funny how Mass Appeal pumps this dude up..lol

Nas is funny and brilliant

Lol. Yea. I'm convinced the GOAT is trolling us. Look at the write up:

"Your Old Droog is a magnificent rapper and wordsmith. His voice feels like a meeting between Rakim Allah and Ghostface Killah. This young man is elusive, but in reality, it feels like he’s in his head writing stuff. In today’s day and age, ninjas don’t gotta rhyme that good. Your Old Droog certainly ain’t lazy. in his spare time he likes long, lonely walks on the beach. He likes waffles. He is a former pro wiffle ball player. He’s also an excellent guitar player— an instrument close to this scribe’s heart.

Check out “Nutty Bars” below, produced by a gentleman named El RTNC. Sixty four bars packed in there. There’s more on the way. And if you don’t think this is good rap, well, some people like to eat roaches. But we don’t judge."

:pachaha: at "his voice feels like a meeting between Rakim Allah and Ghostface Killah". Doesn't sound like a mix of those two at all. Definite trolling going on.

nikkas think the man who wrote One Love, Ghetto Prisoners, Last Words, What Goes Around, Black Zombies, Revolutionary Warfare, These Are Our Heroes, and American Way needed Jay Electronica and Stic Man to ghostwrite a concept album about the African American experience? :mjlol:

N!ggas just begging for attention Zig. Why would they even bring that sh!t up in this thread anyway?

Good theory, cuz I'm convinced this is Nas.

Yeah, it's just a theory.

To go a little deeper, a few things:

He makes references to illmatic and other Nas related things. If I were an emcee coming up whose selling point was that I sound extremely like Nas I wouldn't dare make reference to anything Nas related in my rhymes. That's like career suicide.

Also, from certain comments in this thread, the way I understand Nas' character/personality is that he'd always want to re-spark his passion for the genre/artform. I'm almost certain that he admires the wave that artists like Jay Electronica and MF DOOM have and as a down to Earth guy he'd find some excitement doing something like this.

My last theory/observation is that someone like Nas would do this just to say "Look I gave you an organic buzz with the Droog alias spitting pure fire and it blew up because of it. Y'all can't front on me anymore because I did it twice." Something to that effect. :myman:

Everything about this screams "true artist" and Nas would be smart to use his tenured platform to create a secondary revenue stream as this Droog alias because watching how MF DOOM works, every time something DOOM related is announced people get their money ready. Nas could eat off of this Droog thing forever (in addition to eating off of being Nas forever). Think of the possibilities. Money dries up when artists get "old" and they aren't "hot" anymore in the visual department so what better way to get people to always feed into your product than by getting them hooked on purely the talent? :dwillhuh:

At this point I'm almost hoping that it's Nas because this will ultimately be the perfect way for this dude to continue spitting into his early 80's without ever feeling that he can't get any more sales because the kids are seeing his gray hairs. :ohhh:

TL;DR Nas is building a cult-like fanbase within his cult-like fanbase and he already had the blueprint laid out for him with artists (and friends) such as Jay Electronica and MF DOOM. :pachaha:

"Had Wolves since Steph, KG and Gugliotta"

"It's child's play, Chris Child's play, this is grown man rap"

:salute:Nas, er Droog rather dropping these late 90's NBA gems effortlessly on You Know What Time It Is

Hmm I don't think nas is much of a bball fan though :ohhh:

Doubt he would know who Gugliotta is :heh:

Yeah, There's no doubt in my mind this is Nas

Okay, so if we go by what someone who apparently "knows" people in his camp have said about this Droog guy not wanting to show his face so people judge him solely on his music and not his race..Why the fukk would he be a Nas clone.. What does he gain (other than publicity of people speculating it's Nas) by this? If this is really some White Russian dude..yeah he's dope. The guy can spit no doubt.. But hes a straight up clone! sounds just like Nas and raps like him..like from Nas's perspective. Like its kinda creepy ..that's some next level stannery. And I doubt people would continue listening to him if he really showed his face, like making videos and shyt and all that. He has nothing to gain from this career wise other than being labelled "a Nas clone" and people speculating.

I know they aren't huge like that or nothing, but Action Bronson and Mac Miller are two current white rappers (one who's voice sounds a fukking lot like ghost) who have a pretty good size fanbase so why would he be scared?

Plus, the whole cracker line he spit..

Makes no sense. Unless this guy is just a huge fukkin troll and the whole purpose is to get us to speculate whether it's Nas or not and he's sitting around laughing at home

I was exaggerating, but you never know with Hip-Hop artists, man.

I think the most valuable thing for the "GOATs" and other popular artists to do for this genre is to Rap until their very last day.

That way it'll finally put the stigma to rest that Hip-Hop was a "fad" etc.

It'll add so much to the culture if people like Jay, Nas, etc. just say fukk it and Rap into old age. Yeah it's a tough pill to swallow because a majority of us are hardwired to rebel against our elders and old people in general, but if you got the skill and can still wow some heads with your talent at 80 years old, why not? These guys are all about being the first to do certain shyt, right? I can see it happening.

Part of me wants to see artists like Jay, Nas, etc. continue to lyrically put their lives into perspective and part of me wants them same old dudes to shut up. :pachaha: :manny: That's just how a majority of us are wired.

The benefit to the culture would be tremendous though, as well as interesting, to see if an artist can remain lyrically sharp into those late years of their lives. It's going to eventually happen whether we like it or not. Jay is the current front runner.
