I dont know if people are mixing their stories up or what but this is like the 4th song off resonable doubt I've heard that was supposed to be on
-I remember reading years ago by someone during the beef that Nas was supposed to be on Brooklyn's Finest with Big and Hov and it was supposed to be called NY Finest with ad-libs shouting out the boroughs
-I heard about Bring it On but I think also D'Evils was also mentoned and I think with Bring it On AZ was supposed to be on it too
-Of course I've heard he was supposed to be on Dead Presidents

So the reason why I say history would have turned out different is because there would never have been beef. That probably would have meant Nas getting some classic beats that went to Jay and Jay getting on some Havoc/RZA production for example.

They were destined to beef regardless. People forget Jay was smashing Nas baby mother and according to Carmen he didn’t know that she was with Nas when he first tried to get with her but when he found out that didn’t deter him. Also Nas wasn’t happy about Steve Stoute working with Jay. He wasn’t happy about Jay proclaiming to be “heir” to the throne after BIG died and there was also beef with Nas’s close associate E-Money Bags and Jay. There were SEVERAL matches that ended up lighting the fire that led to battle not simply Nas not doing a feature.

Nah I disagree. If they'd worked together on RD they would have been close enough for Jay to know who Carmen was.
Secondly, if they had a good relationship then the whole Steve Stoute thing never happens coz how you hatin on your mans.
Even the E-Money bags shyt gets squashed because each nikka is just a phone call away.
Every incident you listed happened precisely because these nikkas never talked to each other like that.
Both these nikkas were in they feelings and we got robbed of some epic shyt as a result.

They’ve only been chatting about this for 20 years. These nas stans are all 35+ years old acting like this is new info

Maybe you're right but I still agree with @Ziggiy because at the end of the day titans gonna clash at the top - or as Nas put it, he had to go in order for Jay to become the top guy. Even if they were cool I'm not sure how that stops Hov from fukking with Carmen if that's what he wanted to do. Dudes be fukking their man's girl all the time. Steve Stoute shyt prob still happens because Jay is Jay, ie far more media friendly/savvy than Nas. And of course Nas was still gonna feel a way about Jay proclaiming himself the heir to Biggie, which is what technically popped everything off.

Nas has beefed with people he’s known his ENTIRE LIFE including Cormega, Nature, Tragedy, Noreaga, and Prodigy. If he’s gone to war with THEM then feature or no feature he was going to war with Jay-Z. Their both competitive. They both were in contention for King Of New York. It was inevitable for it to happen unless Jay never reached the heights he ascended to after Big died and he dropped Vol. 2. Jay was either going to go at DMX or Nas, there was no other rapper in New York who Jay could take the “crown” from besides those two, and X and Jay were on the same label and worked with the same people so that was never going to be an actual thing. Nas and Jay were truly the adverse of each other in almost EVERY WAY back in the 90’s, hell right down to Brooklyn Vs Queens. Thats why it TOOK time, maturity, and a mutual respect for one another’s careers for them to be cool in the here and now. Their no longer in direct competition, there’s no woman to war over, their both filthy rich, and their legacies are mostly set. None of that was set in stone back in the 90’s.
