So if we're talking album titles am I the only one who thought Nasdaq Dow Jones was a dope title?

I think it's a cool album title but it doesn't seem like there is a concept that connects to it so I guess we will never know what direction Nas was going in with that album title.

However, Life is Good and the Season of Nasir seem very focused to the concepts of the ups and downs of life and marriage plus relevant and interesting "stuff" that Nas "has to get off of his chest".

I can't wait to hear more about the new album

I remember a few years ago I used to fukk with your blog and in this one post you were hyping up that Dillmatic mixtape mainly because you were excited by the prospect of a Nas x Dilla collaboration. I don't usually fukk with blends but I downloaded that shyt off the strength of your endorsement. Which is why I don't understand where all this faux outrage is coming from. You were okay with a blend but pretend to be offended when Nas decides to personally honor Dilla's legacy with a couple of original verses? nikka GTFOH. This is why I don't take nikkas like you, Elliott Wilson (the legendary sycophant) and to a lesser extent Dream Hampton (a feminist who continuously defends one of the most mysoginistic rappers in history) seriously, you're hypocrites who have no respect for journalism ethics and standards. If anything you're the one disrespecting Dilla's legacy by using his memory/name to further your vendetta against Nas.

oh, you mean this? http://www.rappersiknow.com/2010/02/05/j-dilla-x-nas-dillmatic/ :ehh:

yeeeeah, if you read just a little bit more closely, it was actually the homie Slopfunkdust who was hype about the nas x dilla blends and he that posted it up on RIK because a local DJ in Phx he fuct with put the blend tape together. i just jumped in there with an 'editors note' saying i wish they'd have worked together when they were alive, because it could have been some incredible shyt vs a better produced god's stepson sort of situation with rhymes we've heard before over beats we've heard in different contexts.
:ohhh:

Anyway, that was 2010? It's 2014, and dilla fatigue done set in something terrible with every tom dikk and harry hoppin on the same typical dilla beats trying to claim a few new fans, or respect and standing with "real" hip hop heads.

i had the same feeling hearing that last De La 'mixtape' where they used a buncha daisy age/buhloone mindstate era verses over dilla beats we've heard before.
:yeshrug:

imagine Nas over some non standard dilla shyt like Peer Pressure () or any of the joints he was giving Frank n Dank when MCs like Nas were too busy rapping over Chris Webber and ashy Salaam Remi beats () or hell somethin' he'd save for a Phat Kat or Elzhi () or busta ().

at this point i'd rather see Nas working with artists clearly inspired by dilla, that can take what they learned from coming up listening to his stuff and apply it to their own shyt, ala a Flying Lotus or Dabyre or Denaun Porter..hell, it's a crime he hasnt worked with Nottz yet either.
:noah:

also, I'm not a journalist and being liked by you or anyone is not a requirement for me to have a good day. :manny:

I wonder if The Season will make the album or just be a Japanese or iTunes bonus track or something.

I get it, your mad Nas doesn't work with your favorite producers. Nas has never been the type to force chemistry and as long as he keeps making albums like Life Is Good I think he's justified in his production choices. Dilla is a god to me, and it kills me that he never worked with Nas while he was alive but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a posthumous collaboration. You're not a journalist but felt the need to write about Nas using Jay Electronica as a ghostwriter, with no evidence to support your claims. You should just stick to whatever it is that you do and let real journalists critique the art. You're letting your personal feelings affect your judgement of the music. And, you're delusional if you think Nas needs Dilla's legacy to gain a few new fans, or respect and standing with "real" hip hop heads. At this point in his career Nas has no peers if we are talking strictly music, you should just accept that Nas will never pander to the whims of nikkas like you who have no idea of his creative process but feel they can do a better job executive producing his albums.

AZ might have ripped it even better, they need to work more together asap, imagine if they did that whole album together 1 day, could actually be a potential classic, their ratio of dope songs together is very good.
