NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
ive only herd the album once and it was an instant classic.

first impressions of negativity was the hitboy and swizz hooks and the pacing of track 6,7,8

but after that album picked back up

now im listening for my second time and i immediately noticed something

im listening to the album in reverse and it seems to be sequenced properly

track 1 beautiful life and the last track being bad energy

it completely changes the tone of the album as now the first track immediately references recent topics

then this theme of nas addressing recent topics continues on QB politics.

feels right

the introduction on beautiful is more appropiate as an album intro

then at the end of qb politics he says "we need to lighten it up"

then the next track would be "mean the world to me" which does exactly that sonically

i had the same experience with the first lost tapes.

i believe track 1 should be fetus and the last track doo rags

sequencing is extremely understated
:ehh:

No Bad Energy - 5/5
Vernon Family - 4.5/5
Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack) - 2/5
Lost Freestyle - 5/5
Tanasia - 5/5
Royalty - 2.5/5 (Nas is spitting and the beat is decent, but the song quickly gets repetitive IMO)
Who Are You - 4.5/5
Adult Film - 4/5
War Against Love - 5/5
The Art Of It - 5/5
Highly Favored - 4.5/5
Queens Wolf - 4.5/5
It Never Ends - 4.5/5
You Mean the World to Me- 4/5
QueensBridge Politics - 5/5
Beautiful Life - 5/5

4.5/5 overall. Knock off Jarreau and Royalty and it might be 5 mics.

If I had one overall complaint I wish a lot of the two verse songs had another verse. I get that some of these songs were unfinished/demos and shyt but I want them to keep going lol.

Been rocking with this all weekend. Definitely needed a break from the Moneybag Yo, Gunna, Lil Baby, Da Baby, YFN type of music lol

You mean they're not all the same? Screw me
I thought it was the same guy using different monikers
How y'all tell the difference?

Listeners will find little of that charm on the sequel, which mines unreleased tracks from recording sessions for Hip Hop Is Dead, his untitled album, Life Is Good and NASIR. Nas wastes his nimble, multisyllabic flow by jumping from tired topic to exhausted topic. “It Never Ends” pays tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. on the hook, with a reference to Biggie’s song “Come On”: “I got seven MAC-11s, about eight .38s/Nine nines, 10 MAC-10s, the shyt never ends (Never ends, never ends)/The world’s going crazy, this shyt never ends (Never ends, never ends).”

Once upon a time, Nas would have had the foresight to turn this appropriated B.I.G. hook into a street-smart condemnation of the gun violence that has been a hot topic in America since Columbine. And yet, he wastes the cut rapping about wearing “buckets like Gilligan.”

Wow I went to check out the review on hiphopdx and this shyt was worse than I thought. :mjlol: Penalizing Nas for not being conscious even though the track is dated but the bars are still dope.

This clown gave Drogas Wave a 3.8:mjlol:

Royalty is classic storytelling Nas over a dope beat. :yeshrug:
I don’t get the criticism for the track the hook isn’t “Reminder” or “Making of a perfect bytch” bad. I like the track

Skat Rap is dope. It’s a dope melody the horns go hard. It’s sounds like nothing I’ve been playing for the past few years but Nas rode that beat perfectly, the outro is dope too.
