Im still cautious about this album
When Kanye went back in the studio after the TMZ rant, his album and the Nas were the two that were far from done. We saw Ye how turned out (I thought it was ok) wasnt as cohesive as Kids See Ghost and Daytona which were already done.
Secondly much like Kanye and his rants I wonder if there is going to be some pre-disposed hate cause of the Kelis abuse allegations. Like you can see Shea butter and SJW twitter and writer already with their "is this problematic to support" narrative in all reviews or boycotts.
And to the point, given how recent she said this and he has gone back to record with ye, will that be the narrative of the album? And if it is will people embrace it? Or will they think its poor form? And if he doesnt will some criticise him for not?
Weirdly enough for the first time, it aint the beats Im worried about, its more Nas state recording with everything. Is he used to recording something so quick? (Though he does carry and re-use rhymes on tracks that were unreleased). His rhyming has been on point for years but I guess some people feel unsure with his stuff in recent years (The Future joint this year, Travis Scott last year). Whats gonna be his mindset and motivation heading into the booth?
So Im a bit concerned with this cause it was still recorded in the last month and might still be recorded and I dont know if Nas does rushed records
I'm not convinced this was all recorded within the last month. Rumors of Nas working with Ye go back a year. Nas probably has had 2-3 Kanye-produced tracks for a while now. Like you said, Nas could always use verses from all the unreleased tracks he's done in the past years. Maybe Kanye re-did the beats for certain tracks Nas did with other producers (Pusha kinda alluded to this for his own project). No way Nas sits on 6 years worth of material to just release a rushed project. Makes absolutely no sense. I also wouldn't rule out Nas adding a track produced by Timb, Swizz or whoever and have Ye tweak it a little.
