People always say certain Nas albums aint classic because of one or two songs, but you can do the same with actual classic albums from Pac, Big and Jay that have filler songs too.
I always thought the notion that 5 mics perfect equals classic was unrealistic in hip hop. To me a classic is simply whats an impactful album in a great artists career, just like how we view it in other genres. Nas has plenty of those, so do other artists that never get mentioned (Busta)
But if we wanna say that a classic is only 5 mics and impact, then there's probably not that many in Hip Hop and every artist only has 1 or 2 at best.

There isn't an argument for God's Son being a classic album. If it's your personal classic that's cool but come on. It has a couple classic Nas songs but overall is just a good album. Didn't impact the genre, isn't perfect or nearly perfect...

I think most rappers who are great have either 1 or 2 records that could be considered classic. Five albums though my ninja you are bugging. I think only stans of artists go past 2 classic albums. People really forget how to judge albums. Great albums over time have just been bumped up to classic status.
