Nas has a line on the album that people like him for his lyrics not production yet forgets part of why Illmatic is so critically acclaimed is the amazing production

I almost get the sense dudes ego makes him rap over sh1t beats because he wants the focus strictly to be on his lyrics. Nas is one of the best lyricists/writers ever but it’s still MUSIC I don’t care how I’ll the lyrics are if the beats are trash

No HYPERBOLE, every morning I wake up with Adam&Eve:fire: playin in my head:ohlawd::damn:

That song is so fukking dope. Bars for days.

The ghosts of gangsters dance
Chinchillas shake on the hanger, the force of this banger
Yeah, my language advanced, my cadence amazin'
The voice triggers somethin', what is this conundrum?
The clouds scurry, your spirit rumble, a boyish smile
Still puff the loud, it's nothin' less than a quarter pound
Savage narrative, every verse that I write bursts light
Brings awareness to my personal life

That line is more as a answer to Vlad and the hyperbole of that criticism

And hes had good beats using his method, probaby more decent than bad . He might not do a beat that drowns him out but its not like he activley picks bad beats especially when his last 2 albums have had decent beats

Nas' flo has sounded amazing his entire career.
But I will say this in 2018 his flow has sounded weaker tan ever.
Flow wise Nasir is his weakest album lyricially he aint dig deep like he normally does either.

that being stated, that means kendrick flow wise and j cole flow wise nas did NOT sound superior in this album.
also all that looking 18 shyt is dead Nas LOOKS is age now. I think the old age is catching up to him and dare I say it he may have health ailments.
No hate Na the GOAT but its evident in this project and in recent collaborations
he doesnt have the patience to find the pocket in these 2018 beats. Some say he shouldnt HAVE 2. But lyrically he always delivered this time... not so much.

Bro.. yall Gotta give that man a break

He clearly isn’t solely focused on music anymore...

Album is hard.. way too many arm chair critics on the forum throwing unnecessary shade

Bruh and somebody had the nerve to say that he didn’t spit on Adam and Eve. I almost jumped through the screen

That's the only track I listen to off of this album, honestly.
The rest of the project is so goddamn forgettable.
He took everything bad off of LIfe's Good and just transported it to a new album.

I was hoping for an introspective Nas with fantastic production and maybe some new subject matter or something.
Just comparing this to 4:44 is embarrassing. His best album still being his first isn't the worst part of this, him not seeing to be able to grow is the worst part.

I don't know if @spliz said this or not, but comments like this prove that a lot of people aren't really Nas fans like that. They're fans of his image, or what they think his music is instead of what it actually is.

Nas has always taken his music to different places with each album release. It could be something like a double album ("Street's Disciple") to an album attacking white supremacy ("Untitled") to a nostalgic album reflecting on his past and his marital issues ("Life is Good"). Each album has a different sound and tone than the last one, even the ones that people don't like ("Nastradamus"). Even It Was Written sounds nothing like Illmatic, from the lyrical content to the production to the flow/delivery. For you to say that Nas is unable to grow, and has been doing the exact same thing for 24 years is an indication that you really haven't been listening to his work like that.
