Meh; can’t believe that we waited six years for something that sounds like it was written and recorded in less than a month. It’s got a couple of dope tracks, but it feels very.... unsatisfying.

I refuse to call these 20-25 minute projects full LPs; they’re EPs no matter which way Kanye and his team try to spin it.
Nas and Kanye only need one month to create such an art piece.
Mediocre rapper need 2 year to release a mediocre album...

That's the difference between master who crafter their skills for decade and beginners.

Nasir is way better than any album release this year.
The only rival of Nas is K dot.

Let me correct.

K.dot might be at Nas level in 2/3 album.
He's young, gifter, work hard and is successfull despite rapping his way and his theme.

Another reason this album is getting bad reviews is that there's added pressure of Kanye producing the whole thing. Many were calling it a classic before one note was even heard. Then it was only 7 songs, so there's also the pressure of an album shorter than Illmatic being flawless.

I also forgot about Push saying this album was Kanye capturing the best moments in Nas's career. There were attempts made, but I'm not really hearing it. I mean, "Not For Radio" is definitely an aim at "Hate Me Now", but the urgency is missing. "Cops" seems to be a nod to the Untitled era, I guess that one succeeds. "White Label" and "Bonjour" are definitely nods to IWW era Esco. While dope, they lack the effortlessness of that era, but capture the elegance and extravagance. "Everything" seems to be more of a nod to "If I Ruled The World", which Kanye throws off because of his songing and it drags along. "Adam & Eve" is more Stillmatic/God's Son era Nas, and to me is the highlight of the album. "Simple Things" sounds like a nod to the Life Is Good era. I don't really like feel the productuon on that one and it ends abruptly.

Overall, in terms of capturing the best moments in Nas's career, this album is pretty hit and miss. The strength of Life Is Good is that it was a smoother listen with some spotty areas, but minor. With Nasir, there's some cringey sex rhymes and Nas going alternative facts on us (I like challenges to the status quo, but what he passing off as fact was :what:). Overall, it's a nice listen.

Also noticed no nod to Illmatic. With Life Is Good, No I.D. captured Illmatic Nas perfectly on "Locomotive" with Premo-esque production and Nas was dropping some :wow: lines. Large Professor was a nice touch to complete the cypher.

These vultures can give him bad reviews until the fukkin end of time and keep bringing up the PROOFLESS Kelis allegations but at the end of the day they never gettin what they want, which is him out of the game. He's too big of a legend with too big of a fanbase. People are always gonna check for him and that's one narrative they can never change.

No one will EVER convice me that this album is less than 4/5.

Nas was in his pro black bag in way that he hasn’t been since Untitled and i fukking LOVE it:salute:
Just relistened after not listening in 3 days. Nas spit so much game. Real hip hop. These critics disgust me. These songs performed live will be insane. It's surreal to know these will be performed in concert with Kanye. Just imagine Cops Shot the Kids live

The agenda here by the author of this opinion piece, is to pledge allegiance to feminism and the me-too shyt. The only reason jay is being praised here is because of beyonce. To Nas fanboys tho, everything revolves around the beef.

You don't find it a problematic/a conflict of interest that jayz/rocnation/tidal/beyonce is tied to so many of these people/podcats/writers/mags, that it's influencing their opinions?
