There’s a certain texture to everyone’s voice, especially his and you wanted to cut through. That was a big thing he mentioned about what stuck out to him with your beats, that you did not try to outdo what he was doing, but also pushed him to get the best out of him.

"It’s just a balance, like I said, I wanted to be his essence. Anything I play him, it’s going to be something I can hear him on. I’m not just playing random beats. Even if it has a different texture to it that you might not be used to hearing Nas over, it’s still going to have a break beat or a drum pattern that feels like I can hear Nas over."

He gets it, I knew it. It's the drums with Nas, and the tempo. Break beats, hard drums, whatever the track is...give Nas up tempo drums and he's going to knock it out the park.

His criticism was also because they act like his hit records is of some kind of lower quality than everyone else. Is the reason why Jay can get away with certain beats Nas couldn’t get away with rapping over. Nas would NEVER be able to do Aint No nikka. They would say it’s trash and that Nas raps over wack beats. nikkas shyt on Dr Knockboot like crazy and that beat ain’t much of a different vibe than Aint No nikka. And u can clearly hear it’s like an interlude/joke song.

Huh?

Aint no nikka beat is classic.. I dont think Nas would have got hate for it. Its originally done by EPMD for Its My Thing. That was Jays inspiration for using it. Jay and Fox did that sample justice. Classic record

I was just about to post that. Jay didn't even get away unscathed with that song.

Nas even caught heat for "Nastradamus" and I think EPMD used that sample before as well. I never really liked "Nastradamus" like that though.

Far as I know it does, and on that note, Tidal sent out confirmation that Nas was my most played artist for December.

We got a figure out a way to get physical releases for this album. This is a classic that needs to be preserved.

I wonder if Nas even had an idea on how well received this album would be. He needs to put out some merch and physicals ASAP because he’d make a KILLING on something like Vinyl alone

I don't think he knew since he had the "just to build the buzz" line. But now they need to shift gears and push it a little because it's a masterpiece.
