the sad thing is most podcasters and radio people don't even listen to music that much I find. they're more into the drama

nowadays there's no money in actual musical discussions. I would love to have mainstream podcasts that talk solely about the music. really getting into the intricacies of the production and the rhyming. Nowadays they'll give a quick or hot take and move onto some drama or what social media saying or try to just discuss how an album impacts a certain narrative

Soon as Nas or anyone drops a great album like Magic instead of talking about the songs it's just about Nas had a good album, what's the new narrative

The new narrative is now 'Nas made Illmatic, fell off, had inconsistent production, didn't listen to the fans and now Hit Boy is his saviour'

The broader discussions are fine, but first lets just discuss and talk about the music we've got in front of us

It's not illmatic and I hate when people compare Nas to that album but it's the last time he had a album with no "ok" tracks. Even with LT Everybody's Crazy and Nothing Last Forever were just OK. Time will tell if the highs on this can meet the same highs on his best albums. I think so because the rhymes are so amazing

There was nothing OK about Nothing Lasts Forever. That song is a classic.

Listen everybody has their opinions and I can understand where you coming from. I just don't think it's better than the worst track on Magic. Magic makes me feel like when I first put Stillmatic cd in my car and heard the intro. Makes me feel like when I put that illmatic tape in the first time and had to shovel the driveway. Didn't want to stop shoveling lol. It's a top 3 Nas album for me and I love LT. My Way is my anthem.

Yeah no one can’t knock you for your opinion, Lost Tapes is undoubtedly number 2 for me though, if anything was going to make way for Magic it would be IWW, for me.

But he listened to both Nasir and LT2. And didn’t really say much bad about either one. Rah Digga always hated how them nikkas acted wit Nas tho.

Them 2 jawns aren't as...worldly let's say, as KD1 and KD2. I love both KD1 and KD2, both are at least a B to me...but they're kind of "soft" in a sense. A lot of relationship talk, a lot of relaxed/mellow vibes, aside from the joints that obviously aint that. Dudes like Jamar, and Doggie Diamonds...all them old "get off my lawn" face ass dudes like that hate that shyt...especially from someone like Nas. So I'm not surprised if he wasn't chomping at the bit to hear "Magic", probably thought it was gonna be along them same lines. It's definitely not tho, lol, shyt still hard af, just ran thru it again this morning.
