Nice take, kinda harsh on some projects but I can respect that. Mine would have approx the same rankings but slightly higher overall.

Dude full of shyt cause he got roasted for his wack ass opinion.

This is what kills me--he didn't drop his comments 10 minutes after the album was released, it was well over a week. Stop passing the buck and do your homework before making your judgments or live with the consequences when you come in with an uninformed take.

A lot of these guys are in shambles because all of their narratives that they've run with regarding Nas over the last decade have been put to rest, so they are kind of stuck and baffled on how to talk about him. He's rich, he's outrapping his peers from the 90s and the current generations top rappers, he's rapping on great production, he's put out 3 quality projects in 16 months, and he's doing it effortlessly while juggling other projects. That doesn't compute when they figured they had the Nas story told and finished in their heads back in 2011. It used to be easy to grab one of the pre-made narratives from the "Nas lost" period to poke fun at, criticize, and backhand compliment, using "But I love Illmatic" as a shield against any accusations of hating. But getting off those takes in 2022 just makes you look silly, and they haven't yet found a new narrative to frame what he's doing into a more negative light.

It's funny in a way, watching it in real time. But it also just reveals that a lot of these cats don't like Nas. And if the comment sections was agreeing with his take, guaranteed he wouldn't have put out a follow up tweet to talk about the album being dope.

Most of it isn't even hate as much as it is entitlement. They feel some kind of way because Nas didn't do what THEY wanted him to do or become what THEY wanted him to become. Nas always went left field. Nas announced he was doing a joint album, and a lot of these guys were mad that we got Distant Relatives instead of a Nas/AZ album. There was confirmation of Nas and DJ Premier wanting to lock in for an album complete with a Scratch magazine article. 15 years later, we get THREE Nas albums produced by HitBoy. Oh and wait, there's the Ye fans who feel a type of way because Nas has better albums with HitBoy than the Ye produced Nasir. There's other fans that are critical because the albums aren't produced by their favorite producer or who they think Nas should work with.

There was no confirmation of Nas and Premier locking in for an album. In that VERY magazine in which they were both featured Nas only confirmed he wanted Premier for a BEAT on the next album but he specifically said he wanted other producers involved as well.

People always sight that Scratch article simply by the cover. NOT what was actually written within the story itself and quoted by Nas

It's very simple most of these people like Jayz and never wanna give Nas credit for anything. And for 30 years just like Jayz did with Takeover all they have to do is say it's not Illmatic Nas
