Lost Tapes 1 were songs that were supposed to be on I Am but leaked and loosies that were leaked to mixtapes and the streets were dying to hear in CDQ. Lost Tapes 2 were songs that Nas left on the cutting room floor and would've NEVER seen the light of day if Nas' team didn't finally talk him down and convince him to drop LT2. They were throwaways, sounded like throwaways, and the project was mid as a result.

So Who Are You wasn’t leaked beforehand? You Mean The World To Me wasn’t leaked beforehand? Royalty was leaked under another beat and originally had Frank Ocean singing the hook.

You have no idea what you’re talking about

Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds trashed the album on their podcast but their critiques didn’t even make any sense. They clearly hardly listened to the album

they kept saying it sounded great and the beats were hard and all this but in the same breath they turn around and say “but it’s not as good as Illmatic, why is Premo only doing scratches on this? If Nas doesn’t make songs with Premo better than NYSOM then I don’t want to hear it” like wtf, how can you hold Nas up to that type of standard but then sweat the fukk out of Kanye and Jay Z etc and saying that Kanye’s songs are so much better because there’s “so much more musicality”

they shyt on Oochie Wally but then turn around and tell a story about how Cipha bought that beat before Oochie Wally and wanted to get Mos and Kweli on it. They love the beat and say it’s a dope record but then the hook isn’t good enough or whatever.

It's being overly critical. A lot of critics look at a work, especially if it's an artist that has something as iconic as Illmatic, they are scared to give it high marks because it either gives the impression that the work is close to that quality, meets or exceeds that quality. Like critics were harsh on MJ's Invincible and Dangerous. Great albums on their own merit, but critics always compared it to his classics and even dismissed them.

It’s more than that with Nas. These nikkas is cocksuckers. Period. I swear. If I was a guest on one of these shows they would hate me. Lol
