Since BTS emerged he’s always said Nas his favourite rapper. Even said if he could meet one celeb it’d be Nas. I know this from my niece haha :snoop:

to rank his top songs, I'd have to go through eras.

Illmatic-God's Son

SD to LIG

Nasir to Present

This is the era of his career that is hard to compare to the newer material. That's where the tried and true classics are. Even with Nastradamus as the worst, there's still "Project Windows", "Last Words", or even a "You Owe Me". That's not to diminish his newer material at all, but Nas has 15-16 albums not counting The Firm or Distant Relatives.

On Wikipedia, it talks about Nas having an era of inconsistent output. This, according to them, is right around SD-HHID. I don't really consider them a credible source of information but I have to say that to me, Nas has been all the way on point from Untitled to now. I absolutely loved LIG and I want so badly to lump it into this era of music. Another good way to divide the eras is by Lost Tape volumes. LT1 is all the way through Stillmatic. LT2 is through the Def Jam years. Of course, there are tons of unreleased songs that also fall within those ranges. With Mass Appeal though and especially while working with Hit Boi, I don't really forsee any Lost Tapes.

HitBoy too. Sampling Pete Rock from T.R.O.Y as Pete was hating after KD2. "Listen close as I prove my point" :lolbron::mjlol::mjlit::ehh: on Wave Gods
That and flipping the World's Is Yours for Ugly:whoo:, which Ironically is the 3rd song on the album just like WIY is the 3rd song on Illmatic :sas1:

Hip hop is dead wasn’t as good as I hoped but still solid and Street’s Disciple didn’t need to be a double disc but Untitled was great. To me that was Nas era of not really giving a fukk about the critics and when you consider the climate of hip hop then that a mainstream artist was putting albums out like that and going against the grain deserves massive plaudits.

You saw that shift start with God’s Son and then yeh I’d lump LIG into this era as content quite similar and more Nas as an elder statesman of hip hop

There's music between Life Is Good and Nasir and between the time shortly after Nasir to King's Disease that is unreleased.

I know there is probably tons of music once he left Def Jam but between Nas being known for using his rhymes on different beats and the fact that everything Hit boi is doing is seemingly getting released, it's a lot less likely that he will have a whole cache of unreleased music. I hope he does though... especially if he going to one day release it.

I always wanted Nas to do a box set. I know that is not really realistic in the age of streaming and digital files but in a traditional box set, Nas could have his best shyt and even best unreleased tuff divided by eras. We would all flip out on that. that would clear up a lot of mystery around when certain tracks were recorded and for what album.

22k isn’t bad for his this was released. Ross is supposed to be a big artist and he barely outdid that with a proper rollout.

more importantly tho, sales don’t mean shyt really for Nas. I like to see him get the W but he’s financially set. I’m just happy he’s been dropping fukking gem after gem. This album is incredible and he said KD3 is in the works now too. Just insane. When’s the last time Nas has been this prolific with his output?
