People get motivated differently so both ways appeal to different people but I agree. Nas, Ross, Jeezy, etc are gonna just tell you how it’s done, basically giving you advice straight up.

This is one of the things I've really loved and appreciated about the last couple albums, he's giving the listener the tools to succeed:

Y'all did it first'll be the death, I got a proposition
You and your brothers stop plottin' on each other, plot on millions

Educate yourself, find ten different areas of interest
Spread your bets out
Double down on what's working then you double up
Hands on your paper, they sending hate no matter what you touch
Honestly, I'm speechless

10 Points was another with great practical advice:

They hardly happy for you, keep doing what you do
You can't please everybody, and not everybody is you
Don't try to force a square peg in a round circle, that shyt'll hurt you
Don't try to fit in either, you're better off with neither
Few veteran speakers get medicine when you need it
Especially when we all need knowledge instead of sneakers
Stop hangin' on to childhood trauma, it defeats us
Our challenge is holding ourselves back, I hope you felt that

And the Rare video: "You are your only opponent"

Nas a straight up guru

This right there with Stillmatic and God Son and the KD series..

Making me forget about the SD-Untitled era… very impressed

Yeah, with wack songs like this ***major sarcasm***

Those 3 verses run circles around your fav rapper

I really don't get that take. I know music is subjective but everything in that SD-Untitled era was ridiculously good.

the fact that they recorded this guerilla style like how LB recorded The Listening makes me like it even more. Nas is really taking it back to basics on this.

the wave Nas on right now is just pure hip hop and really beautiful to see. From the Video Music Box doc to Hip Hop 50 to the podcast to all this music, Nas keeping hip hop history out there more than probably anyone else

which makes sense given Nas always was a hip hop history guy and gave love to those who came before him, but at this point with how rich he is, he really doesn’t need to do all of this
