i LOVE the previous 5 albums

Far be it for me to suggest ANYTHING to Nas given this incredible run but I think the future of elder statesmen within the genre lies in production like Japanese Soul Bar. That jazzy type production pairs BEAUTIFULLY with the nostalgic, wisdom based lyrics that many older MC’s convey. Imagine KRS or Rakim or even Jay-Z over that type of production. It would be perfection.
Nas really locked down a winning sound over the course of these albums. He tapped into Hit Boy’s youth without losing his own sense of self and Hit Boy didn’t so much as “update” Nas sound as he crafted a landscape for Nas to build a contemporary sound with roots in the Boom Bap he came into the game with and the Jazz with which he was raised by his father.
The musicology of it all should be studied by any MC past the age of 40.
