Hit Boy dropped an album and probably 90% of the ones singing his praises weren't in the thread for it. They only care about him when he's attached to Nas. Ask them to name their top 20 Hit Boy beats not on KD or Magic and they couldn't do it without a Google search.

There's posters in here who literally only participate in Nas threads or you rarely see them in other artist threads. People don't listen to a diverse amount of rap which is cool if that's what you like but then they expose themselves by saying things like Alchemist fell off a long time ago. They didn't listen to The Elephant Man's Bones, Tana Talk 4, Great Escape, any of the Boldy or Curren$y albums, Alfredo, any of the numerous Griselda beats, etc.

A lot of the arguments in here are disingenuous.

TMZ fam?:dahell:

The whole front page is literally scandalous shyt. They're not even talking about music but speculation about music.

I was talking about Nas specifically.
This is one of the few times i've seen them post ANYTHING that wasn't based on some sort of scandal or innuendo

ALC is a legend HB is dope. Can y'all stop the bullshyt :snoop:. HB got something no other producer has Grammies with both Jay &Nas. That doesn't lessen ALC accomplishments nor his :snoop:

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
This is facts. I had zero interest in a Hit Boy album, or the stuff he's doing with his dad...because while I like him as a producer he's not one of my favorites, and the projects didn't catch my interest at all. Whereas I'm gonna listen to every Alchemist project until I die (except for Larry June shyt lol). The love is one sided with the stans. If Nas had done four albums with Soulja Boy on the beats they'd have that in their top 10 yearly, be saying he's one of the best young producers in the game, and dapping him up at every chance (while simultaneously not listening to any new non-Nas related music from him).

What I find funny is that we could literally say this for a LOT of Producers, who get famous and get credit for working with famous rappers and that catapults them to a higher status. Would anybody on here be arguing that Alchemist is somehow the greatest thing since sliced bread WITHOUT the extensive work he did with Mobb Deep and Prodigy (Particularly H.N.I.C and Return Of The Mac) would Kanye West become Kanye West without his extensive work on The Blueprint & BP2? (three singles between the two of them plus a legendary diss track)

No one has any issue with these producers getting a leg up working with legendary MC's, but when it comes to Nas and Hit Boy we're calling foul. Because speaking for MYSELF after KD1 dropped I definitely made sure to check out both Big Sean's Detroit 2 and Benny's Burden Of Proof, both executive Produced by Hit Boy. I also listened to Surf or Drown 2 and went back and listened to the Chauncey Hollis album. If you don't believe me go check out my posts in the respective album threads.

Also I find it funny that you're suggesting that if Nas did four albums with Souljah Boy it would meet or exceed the quality of the KD series plus Magic. The success of these albums didn't simply come from Hit Boy's beats, they came from Hit Boy's SUGGESTIONS and Nas trusting HB's vision for certain songs. As I said before, it was HIT BOY who suggested the Firm reunion. HIT BOY who suggested Durk be on Til The War Is Won and HIT BOY suggesting Ferg and Fivio for Spicy. Would Souljah Boy make those suggestions? Would Souljah Boy demonstrate the level of dedication to Nas's legacy? Would Souljah Boy even know who Cormega is? Your directly and deliberately lessening both Nas's choice in producers and Hit Boy's talent and vision to prove some asinine point for what exactly? To again prop up Alchemist as this Deity of Hip Hop production when it's not necessary.

Utilizing your logic we could say Dj Premier ain't shyt because nobody cared about the Hip Hop Is 50 compilation outside of the song with Nas. And when the Nas song didn't set the world on fire it was forgotten in a week. I guess Pete Rock ain't shyt because nobody really cared about the (excellent) Retropolitan album he put out with Skyzoo a few years ago in 2019. It didn't garner the attention nor the sales of a Pete Rock & CL Smooth album. What EXACTLY is the point is you are trying to make?

Nah. Unless you're assuming those Soulja Boy beats would be trash and Nas fans would still eat it up, then that's not a fair analogy.

The production Hit has given Nas has been straight fire and nothing to envy Alc's recent production. Kanye provided Nas with mediocre beats and Nas fans were the first to call it out. Hit deserves all the praise he's getting for his work with Esco.

I’ll never forget on Christmas Eve seeing Nas post on Instagram about Magic and I didn’t think anything of it.

I thought he was promoting a documentary or some sh1t or maybe a song then I was excited and shocked when I found out because there was no promotion for it and dude just dropped two albums in less then a year

Coop from A2HH is saying he doesn’t know why everyone thinks Nas is hinting at a new album

Clearly Nas’ plug told him not to mention anything and play dumb
I was listening to the show as well but was being disturbed and couldnt hear everything. To me they looked surprised. They even discovered on the spot that Nas had posted that video 2hours prior and it took people in the comments to explain to them the 2 wands were the reference to Magic 2, I think they hadn't seen that. Coop did say he knew since November Nas was working on a Magic sequel, I think.

Even the Twitter plug, I'm in a discord with her and when someone mentioned a couple days ago that an album was dropping 07/17, she was surprised and thought it was a single only

So the Reddit dude must really be a close collaborator to have all this precise info everytime
