I hear you. I just think for who Nas is, the production on this one just isn't quality.
People will kinda point at his age and all kinds of other sh*t, as to why this is good, but that's just not being honest. I really don’t see how anyone could claim to be a day one Nas fan, and say this project is dope, lol. I'm one of the early Nas fans that always expects dude to constantly have the best sh*t out. That's the level I know he can work on. It's how it was at one point, for mad years. So sh*t like this album just ain't it, for me.
I can't lie and pretend, lol. I really feel like this should be his last project with Hit. He has to start grabbing some beats from legends again. And get better direction. This is the first project since Nasir, that I feel does absolutely nothing for his legacy.
Its because there isn’t a meet Joe black or 40-16 building off first listen here that grabs you
But then you hear like Motion, Office Hours, Slow it Down and it’s like okay that makes sense
I think if this run with Hit Boy proves he’s not gonna just grab beats from everyone and hope it sticks cohesively. He’d rather work with one person with a diverse range and can help with album sequence and maybe even challenge his delivery.
There’s a lot of dudes who are better producers than Hit but I don’t know if they given Nas those last two parts
