Well to be fair as great as magic 2 and 3 are, they were basically overkill and weren't better than kd3. Magic 2 was a let down compared to the previous work at first (I appreciate it much better now) so I can't really retract my words. It was a good thing they came out shortly after with Magic 3 to close their series which was a little bit better
Now I'm still glad that m2 and m3 exist cause there's a lot of great tracks between them two but yeah at a certain point the nas and hit boy formula started to stale and I'm glad they didn't try to push it further
KD3 is better than Killer Mike’s album and it’s also higher rated critically. People get it confused because Killer Mikes album came out 2023 and Nas’ came out in 2022. People keep thinking Nas’ Magic albums are going up against Killer Mike’s.Just because you campaign doesn’t guarantee a win. The Grammys have a formula when it comes to the rap categories and unfortunately neither Nas nor Mike fit that formula, if either of them win it would break every unstated but consistent “rule” that Grammy voters have followed in the rap field.
I’m holding out hope for Nas because i’m hoping that with Hip Hop 50 the voters take into account what Nas has done all year to celebrate the art-form, progress the art-form, and give the traditional pillars of the art-form their flowers. Nas put a LOT of money into his peers pockets last year and the Grammys are (outside of the rap field) as much about narrative as they are quality if the work. Nas has the NARRATIVE to win but we’ll see.
Either way it’ll be interesting. I hope Mike wins Best Rap Song because I definitely think he deserves SOMETHING

IMO, Reminisce is the best track on KD3.

What are you basing this on?Went to 1996's Ironman and this last night. Thirsting like a thot.
I dont know what kind of crack Nas and Hit were smoking for that 2021 to 2022 run. I'm pretty sure they have material between those two years that we still haven't heard that blows a lot of this other shyt out of the water. THe last two Magics were just Vicory laps and didn't produce the same aura.
I don’t think they were trying to recreate the aura…quite the opposite actually. I still don’t really get the overarching theme for the Magic series and KD series and why which is which…like what distinguishes one from the other, etc… Initially I thought the KD series was gonna be the big production kind of records, just jammin ass songs…and Magic was gonna be the more dirty/hip hop bop…but that wasn’t necessarily the case at all past part 1 of each..Went to 1996's Ironman and this last night.
