this resume perfectly the situation. people underestimate the power of the naming and concept. some people are reluctant to a kd4 because they think making a trilogy was a perfect thing and they don't want nas to disrupt that with a 4th entry that will not necessarily add to the title run. but if you name the project with a other name even if it still the same people it's different.

For example when mega did realness 2, az did do or die 2 or raekwon did ob4cl 2, the expectations were a lot higher despite the fact that it was just another album. even nas when he named his 5th album stillmatic it meant something, and the music had to be on par. if those album were average the fan base would have been harsher than usual because the title carry a legacy now
if nas and hit boy did magic 2 we would expect a darker mood because of the first and then people would not be as critical as a kd4, but it's the same people
jay z pefectly understood that when he did the volume series and the blueprint series. He made 3 of those and not a 4th because from a marketing point of vue people like trilogies, thats a basic artistic trick. making a 4th entry only work if your intent is to make 10 of those like mission impossible or fast and furious lol

wrong thread but I just listened to store run, moments and nobody off kd2 back to back and hit boy is ridiculous. Give me KD10 if necessary

I'm still :wow: at the fact that "Nobody" features Lauryn Hill and she's RAPPING. I've waited almost decades to see "featuring Lauryn Hill" on another Nas album and the fact that she dropped a verse was icing on the cake. Nas killed it, then Hitboy had to put that beat switch on there, which added more greatness on top of greatness.

You would figure Nas pulling that off would be celebrated by the hip hop media, radio, community etc… on top of that the song is dope.

The song actually charted WITHOUT being released as a single so there was definitely enthusiasm for it.

I wish Nas would have pushed KD2 more. It had REAL potential to have legs. Store Run, Moments, Nobody, YKTV could have all been singles with videos

I’m actually surprised Nobody wasn’t a Grammy nominated worthy song. But KD2 could have been pushed a little more.

1. Store Run
2. The Cure (2nd half particularly)
3. Nobody
4. Nas is Good
5. The Truth
6. Blue Benz
7. 40 Side

KD3 is the best album out of the 4, imo, but the other ones got the best songs somehow, to me, lol. KD3 is just a steady burn though, it's like a consistent 8 or 9 from song to song to song, no skips.

Agree think KD2 has the highest highs, Nas is Good, Composure, Store Run but KD3 the most consistent across the board.
