The Scotsman review
Score- 4/5

Soulful rap crusader Nas is on a roll, completing his King’s Disease trilogy in two years – even sneaking in another album, Magic, at the end of 2021. King’s Disease III features none of your typical hip-hop guest appearances, and no songwriting by committee, just a fertile, streamlined partnership with producer Hit-Boy.

One thing ive seen this time round is the reviews have been comin in with the quickness and most have been universal in acclaim

What are your picks for the 9 song playlist? I think this is mine but I might have to switch it, too many choices...

1. The Pressure
2. Thun
3. 27 Summers
4. Rare
5. Recession Proof
6. Store Run
7. Once a Man, Twice a Child
8. 10 Points
9. The Cure

Don't have Spotify but mine would probably be something like this:

01. 27 Summers
02. 10 Points
03. Ultra Black
04. Death Row East
05. Count Me In
06. The Pressure
07. Thun
08. Beef
09. 30

According to ole girl Nas has a first look deal with Netflix and they want to make a scripted series based on Nas life.

I asked her would Nas ever make a biopic series similar to Wutang: An American Saga, and that was her answer
As long as WZA is nowhere near the Nas bio series Im with it

Exactly. I think when they talk about black out moments they mean those songs where its no hook just one long ass verse and for thr most part Nas dont do that anymore. Probably last time was Echo or Nas Album Done. But i like Ice’s counter argument saying he’s delivering the black out moment throughout albums rather than one track or feature verse.
I think the point of it, is what more can Nas do? Like Ice said, nas is making albums and they are dropping songs here and there. If Nas was dropping verses and they were dropping dope albums then they would say well jay and Andre are dropping albums and Nas just dropping verses. They move goal post when convenient.

Again it wasnt as much of a knock on Joe’s end as it was moreso “i wish he did _____”. I would love for Nas to drop random joints where its one verse and he just blacking like one of Drake’s time stamp joints but it aint required of him and he never really did that on his albums outside of intros. He dont need to. Hell id love for Jay to do that shyt too but he doesnt and does so on guest verses. But now Jay’s knock (for me) would be to match Nas output quality and quantity wise as of late. I aint see that as a slight against Nas but again…I get it

I’ve never truly understood how “sales” work nowadays either. Nas has the number 1 album over Taylor Swift, Drake & 21 London, Bruce Sprinsteen, and The Black Panther Soundtrack. Physicals available on his website. Number 2 on Amazon. And yet he’s only projected to 8K in “pure” sales?

Number 4 on Apple Music. Top 5 on Spotify. And that translates to only 28k?

Just weird.
Maybe this has been answered somewhere, but do the physical pre-orders even count as sales? I'm wondering if its strictly digital purchases via retailers. Did my part, but 8K in pure sales feels crazy to me.

Listened to the Budden podcast

Again, knowing that Budden is an unrepentant Hov stan, this review by him and the team is the equivalent of Miss Info’s 5 Mic Source Review lol. He all but said Nas is the GOAT without saying it. There are absolutely NO flaws in the album, which is why his “critique” was precedented on the notion that it was “Just for the Mount Rushmore” of MC’s, so that he COULD give Jay-Z points for that overrated ass God Did verse.
