My guess is Nas was trying to trim the album. 17 tracks is a lot. Was probably trying to move both of them.

No the examples y’all gave is the incorrect context.
The examples you two gave describe an event, not a person.
‘An attempt to rush the stage is futile’ not the person or group of people that did the attempt.

An event, a movement can be futile, just like the examples y’all gave.
This is not how you use the word futile, you both gave definitions but you did not think how to apply it correctly.

His talent is his gift/curse that exact mindset is the main reason why he hasn't done the Premo album imo. Why make it when nikkaz gonna be like " this ain't Nas is like or NYSOM" shyt not worth it. He already gets dragged by a certain segment of the base why subject Premo to it as well

I did like his comment of ‘Nas doesn’t like to reminisce?’ As even when I heard that I thought is Nas being ironic with that as Nas loves nostalgia and he’s the best at it
