Nas didn’t pick the sequencing for LT1 but he did sign off on which songs were used. There was an article on the Making Of Lost Tapes that was done by Complex I believe that broke the entire album down and also talked about how Nas had recorded over the Many Men beat and the beat that became Alicia Keys You Don’t Know My Name.
Funny thing about this whole conversation is that I’m pretty sure Nas said he didn’t really pick the final track list for Untitled either. He kept getting knocked back so in the end he just submitted a whole lot of possible songs and LA Reid signed off the ones on the album. And that’s why he did The N****** Tape. Nas never does mixtapes to coincide with albums but he still wanted to put those songs out.

granted Untitled is still and incredibly dope album, but it wasn’t what Nas originally envisioned.

East Side!
I gotta find that interview I’m talking about.

I believe it was Amerie’s boyfriend/husband who worked at Columbia that put the album together, Nas had nothing to do with The Losf Tapes like others have said. There was an article that broke it down that was put up around the time Lost Tapes 2 was coming out

I love how he said he was getting to know Hit (and vice versa) on the first album, but they knew they HAD to come back with a second. The second album def sounds like Hit Boy took more of a concentrated effort to tailor the beats (and drums!) for the type of rapper Nas is. Sure he did that to a degree on the first album with stuff like Car 85 but it felt like this second one was Hit Boy showing he's been studying 90s and 00s rap shyt.

Also like what Nas said about every song being a different planet or vibe. With the first album I def felt like I wanted another Blue Benz type record. That straight up rap shyt, whether you got a topic or not. And they def came thru on this one with the intro, Rare, EPMD, and especially Store Run. Albums need shyt like that since every track can't be heavy or conceptual.

I love the new Boldy album, liking Ka's new album, like what I heard from Spitta's album so far. But I keep going back to KD2. Hell I'm already imaging driving around this winter listening to some of those bangers, or driving through the snow bumping Moments.

I like how Nas said he was two-stepping to Death Row East after he recorded it. lol When I read the tracklist I assumed it was gonna sound closer to something like the Autobiography of Rakim or Last Real nikka Alive just based on the title.

Ghetto Prisoners beat sounds like it’s straight outta Donkey Kong Country 2. It’s the only weak spot on the album

Of all the songs lol... You really rocking with Dr. Knockboot and Kissing over Ghetto Prisoners? :dwillhuh:

Neither of these are my favorite tracks, but I can tolerate them. The weakest joint to me was Big Things.
